Inspiring Story Of A Delivery Boy Who Learned Coding & Becomes A Software Engineer

Success is something we all aspire to in some way, but what exactly is it? What does it mean to be successful? These days, there are several definitions. However, it appears that most individuals agree on one thing when it comes to success. And it is this: success is a byproduct of consistent hard work.

Being successful has now become the topmost priority of the youth in today’s constantly evolving world. And to be successful, people need to constantly do hard work in order to provide assistance to their dreams, in terms of some more academic points or financially.

While no job is insignificant, performing odd jobs to be self-sufficient while pursuing your ambition provides a unique sense of fulfilment. On social media, one such story of a “delivery boy with a dream” who became a software engineer at a highly respected company is motivating millions.

Who is the delivery boy with a dream?

His name is Shaik Abdul Sathar and he is from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He was a former delivery boy who worked for Zomato and Swiggy. Recently, he has chronicled his remarkable path to becoming a software expert on social media.

Shaik Abdul Sathar, who currently works for a Bengaluru-based IT firm, said on LinkedIn on May 27 that in his last year of college, he took up delivery jobs to augment his family’s income. On LinkedIn, he wrote,

I’m a delivery boy with a dream

Ola, Swiggy, Uber, Rapido , Zomato
I was everywhere since final year of college

I wanted to contribute financially as soon as I can. Because my father is a contract worker. So we only had just enough money to get by

I was very shy initially, but being a delivery boy I learnt many things.

A buddy suggested he start learning how to code while he was working on these jobs. He said,

One day, I got a casual advice to learn coding.
My friend told me about a course and insisted that I join it.

He further talked about his busy life in which he had to juggle between his studies and job very efficiently to achieve something in his life. He then revealed that he worked from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. every day and that he studied in the early mornings. He was soon able to build web apps.He not only used his earnings as pocket money, but he also provided for his family’s minor necessities.

Sathar began seeking employment in computer-related businesses with his newly acquired talents. He ultimately found work at a company named Probe Information.

He further stated that he is proud of his job as he has learned a lot from it. He said,

My delivery boy experience helped me build communication skills
And I built coding skills at NxtWave.

Soon, I got placed at Probe Information Services Pvt Ltd (Probe42) as a Software Engineer.

He further elaborated on his success journey by saying,

From a place where I had to be careful about every rupee,
I came to a stage where I can clear my parents debts with a few months salary.

Soon after he posted his story, it went viral on various social media platforms as many were genuinely impacted by his story in which he expressed thankfulness for all of the life-changing events he had during his senior year of college.

Presently, the original post stands at 84,757 reactions, with 2500 comments and 540 shares.

Sathar is now studying full-stack development with a concentration in 4.0 technologies, according to his LinkedIn page. He also has various skills, including JavaScript, Python, SQL, and Node.js. From 2017 to 2020, he studied civil engineering at Sai Ganapathi Engineering College.
