Zomato is widely known as a convenient platform for ordering food, and its recent expansion to Food on Train adds even more ease for travellers. The convenience is certainly noteworthy, allowing meals to reach you almost anywhere. However, the experience can quickly go downhill if you receive the wrong food, especially a non-veg dish when you ordered veg. A similar incident recently occurred with a man who shared his complaint on X, claiming a severe service failure and demanding immediate, hefty compensation.
Zomato faces complaint after veg order delivered as mutton during an apparent religious vow
A man named Yashwant SS recently took to X to share a shocking complaint about a serious service failure by Zomato. In his tweet, he wrote,

“Ordered VEG (Order ID: [7528616443]) and was delivered MUTTON.”
To support his claim, he attached the bill showing his actual veg order and even included an image of the food he received, although the picture appeared a bit blurry.
Yashwant explained that the mistake had severe consequences, as it disrupted a strict religious vow he was observing in Dharmasthala. He demanded compensation, stating,
“I must extend my stay by a week. Demanding immediate compensation (Rs 5K-Rs 10K) for damages & mental agony.”
While this request might seem a bit extreme – after all, monetary compensation cannot undo the disruption – it does highlight how seriously he took the error.
Despite the intensity of his claim, the underlying issue is clear: if Yashwant’s account is accurate, the mix-up was certainly an error on Zomato’s part. His tweet quickly caught attention of Zomato, prompting a response.

Soon after Yashwant’s post went public on X, Zomato reacted to the complaint, acknowledging the seriousness of the issue. In their reply, they wrote,
“Hi Yashwant, this is truly shocking for us as we take your dietary preferences very seriously and would never intend to disrespect them. Please allow us some time to take this up with the restaurant, and we’ll get back to you.”

The response aimed to assure the customer that the company was looking into the matter and taking his concern seriously. However, this is not the first time such a food mix-up has occurred, and similar incidents keep happening. Many feel that stricter measures must be implemented to ensure dietary preferences are respected and mistakes like this are avoided.
