When Twinkle Khanna Responds To Naseeruddin Shah For Insulting Her Late Father Rajesh Khanna

Rajesh Khanna, renowned for being the “first superstar” of Bollywood, is still a recognizable name in the industry. His ascent to fame in the 1960s sparked an unprecedented buzz in Indian cinema. Even after several decades, his influence on Bollywood and popular culture is still unmatched. He was regarded as one of the most renowned performers in Indian cinema history due to his distinct style, adaptable acting abilities, and captivating on-screen persona.

However, despite this, many people despise them for different reasons. Among them is renowned actor Naseeruddin Shah. Despite the fact that it happened almost a decade ago, people are still talking about this feud. Nonetheless, now and even then, Rajesh Khanna’s daughter Twinkle Khanna stood like a wall for her father’s dignity.

When Naseeruddin Shah criticises Rajesh Khanna

In his interview with the Hindustan Times in 2016, actor Naseeruddin Shah made sensational claims about Rajesh Khanna. He called Rajesh Khanna a “poor actor” and claimed that he brought mediocrity to Bollywood. Speaking about Khanna, he said,

In fact, it was the 70’s when mediocrity came in Hindi films. That’s when the actor called Rajesh Khanna joined the industry. For all his success, I think Mr Khanna was a very limited actor. In fact, he was a poor actor. Intellectually, he wasn’t the most alert person I have ever met. His taste ruled the industry.

How did Twinkle Khanna react to Naseeruddin Shah’s claims about his father?

While Naseeruddin Shah’s comments didn’t go well with Rajesh Khanna’s fans, they also enraged his daughter as well. Replying to HT’s tweet, Twinkle Khanna wrote,

Other actors also criticized Rajesh Khanna

Meanwhile, Naseeruddin Shah is not the first one to criticize Rajesh Khanna. People who worked with him talked of his insecurity, unpunctuality, and arrogant behavior. During a conversation with Amitabh Bachchan for Movie magazine, Rajesh Khanna acknowledged that he took pride in all of Bachchan’s professional failures. This is not the only instance.

During an interview last year, actor Prem Chopra asserted that Khanna refused to change with the cinema industry and stuck to the same approach, even as his films began to lose money. It made him fade away from the industry. Additionally, a string of failed romances and Khanna’s separation from Dimple Kapadia left his personal life in ruins as well. It was also said that he had a drinking problem.
