9 Bollywood Movies In Which Sushant Singh Rajput Was The First Choice

The sudden demise of Sushant Singh Rajput has shocked the nation and the entertainment industry. People cannot believe that the actor is no more as he was one of the most fun-loving persons they ever knew.

The actor’s fans and well-wishers are still coming to terms with this news and are still asking the reason behind his decision to end his life. His family is devasted with the news. The actor didn’t have an easy career like how it seemed. He was replaced in quite some movies and had struggled to make it big. He had made a name in television but had to work hard to make a name in Bollywood.

Here is the list of few Bollywood films for which Sushant was approached but he was not finalised:

1. Aashiqui 2– 2013

Mukesh Bhatt had said that Sushant Singh Rajput was very keen in working with the Bhatt’s and he had auditioned for Aashiqui 2. He was almost finalised but then things didn’t work out and he was replaced by Aditya Roy Kapur.

2. Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela– 2013

Sushant Singh Rajput was the first choice of the ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his film Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela but due to Sushant’s bond with YashRaj Films, he was not able to sign Bhansali’s . Later, Ranveer was offered the role.

3. Bajirao Mastani– 2015

Sushant Singh Rajput, who has shown exceptional support for Sanjay Leela Bhansali after the distasteful attack in Jaipur on location for Padmavati, was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first choice for Bajirao Mastani. But at that point of time the young actor was fully into preparing for Shekhar Kapoor’s Paani. Sushant was fully into Paani. He sported a particular look and was going through intense workshops with Shekhar and Aditya Chopra, who was at that point of time was mentoring both Sushant and Ranveer. Sushant expressed his inability to do Bajirao Mastani. That’s when Ranveer came in. Eventually Shekhar Kapoor’s Paani never got made. Sushant lost both Bajirao Mastani and Paani.

4. Fitoor– 2016

One of the most underrated Bollywood movies Fitoor was offered to Sushant Singh Rajput. Abhishek Kapoor, the director of Fitoor, had worked with Sushant Singh Rajput’s dream launch Kai Po Che. However, Sushant let go of the film because of his busy schedule and the role was offered to Aditya Roy Kapoor.

5. Befikre- 2016

As Sushant Singh and Vani Kapoor had shared the screen in Shudh Desi Romance which was directed under the banner of YashRaj Films, with the movie Befikre, Aditya Chopra wanted to make audience see this jodi again on the big screen. But later, he decided to cast Ranveer Singh to play the role of Dharam in the movie.

6. Half Girlfriend– 2017

Half-Girlfriend was an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s book of the same name. Sushant left the movie, as the dates of Half-Girlfriend were clashing with that of his new film produced by Dinesh Vijan and he had given a nod for Vijan’s movie much before. Later Arjun Kapoor Filled the shoes of Sushant Singh.

7. Romeo Akbar Walter– 2019

The news of Sushant Singh Rajput playing the lead role in Romeo Akbar Walter was doing the rounds. Director Ajay Kapoor said that the dates Sushant had given were clashing with another film and later John Abraham was finalised for the role.

8. Sadak 2– Not released yet

Once again Sushant got the opportunity to work with Bhatt’s and Mukesh Bhatt revealed that during the casting of Sadak 2, Sushant was the first choice but again owing to some problems he was replaced once again by Aditya Roy Kapoor in the movie.

9. Saare Jahan Se Achha– Not released yet

Saare Jahan Se Accha is supposed to be the biopic of India’s first man on the moon and astronaut Rakesh Sharma. Some big Bollywood stars were approached to play the lead role in the movie. These names include Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput and later Vicky Kaushal was finalized who also opted out. If reports are to be believed, Salman Khan has been approached to play the leading man now.
