What made Sanju Baba fall for Maanayata
While Nadia was more into money and luxury which came along with Sanjay Dutt, Manyata was more into taking his care and was concerned for him. Manyata loved cooking for Sanjay and as there is a saying in old-age, “A way to man’s heart is through his stomach”, which was accurate in case of them. Sanjay was really impressed by the way she used to take care of him and make him his favorite food.
It doesn’t end here! Manyata was very protective of Sanjay, and mostly dropped down to his sets with his favorite food whenever he was in shootings. She also started taking care of his personal and professional matters. The warmth which Manyata has shown to Sanjay even in the tough times he had been through, attracted him even more towards Manyata and in the end, it was Manyata who ruled over his heart.

Once, even an interview she mentioned how protective she is for Sanjay stating,
“Wherever there’s power, there’s bound to be a lot of conspiracy hovering around that source of power. And let’s face it, Sanju is very powerful. There were too many people around him trying to use him. I came like a barricade in Sanju’s life to stand between him and those who want to use him. Naturally, these fair-weather friends resent me. I spoil their party, you see.”
And then they finally tied the knot
Finally, after 2 years of courtship, Sanjay and Manyata tied a knot at Taj Exotica, Goa on February 7th, 2008, according to Hindu rituals. Though there were many rumors regarding their marriage as well, seeing them all happy, everyone wished them good luck.
When Manyata was asked about the difference in her life before marriage and after marriage, she said,
“Oh yes. I’ve never been happier. Sanju has stood by me through thick and thin. I’ve known him for nine years. We started seeing each other seriously in 2005. But he knew my past. So when ‘friends’ tried to provoke him he just laughed it off. He knew everything about me. When I was going through hell before my marriage, I’d pick up the phone and ask him for help. We’re both very positive people and we like to live and let live. We both believe in forgiving. And we believe every saint can have a past. And every sinner can have a future.”
And when they had twins
2 Years after their wedding, they were blessed with twins. A baby boy and a baby girl. Shahraan and Iqra Dutt on 21st October 2010. After Sanjay was released from the prison, he was seen enjoying all the good lost moments with them. They even visited him on the sets when Sanjay was shooting for the movie “Bhoomi”.

When things fell apart after Sanju’s conviction

When Sanjay wrote a poem from jail for Manyata
When Sanjay was sentenced to jail, right after two years it was Manyata’s birthday which she decided not to celebrate, Sanjay plucked a rose from the garden in the jail and wrote a poem on the rose and kept it between the pages which made Manyata cry.
When he was released from the jail and was enjoying a good time with family, he said in an interview in an online portal,
“Manayata is not my ‘better’ half but my ‘best’ half. She is my strength. Whenever I fall down, she supports me. I believe she had suffered more than myself. Raising kids alone and realizing each day what she had, I pray that nobody gets to suffer it anywhere.”
