Riya Sen, daughter of the superstar, Moon Moon Sen and granddaughter of the legendary actress, Suchitra Sen, made her Bollywood debut with style. Along with good acting skills, Riya was blessed with beautiful looks as well. However, her wrong film choices made people think that she is just a pretty face. Relationship with John Abraham

Before John’s long-term relationship with Bipasha Basu started, he met Riya, who was yet to make her debut. He was also struggling during those days. It was said that the actor fell in love with Riya and even wanted to marry her. However, after her film released, she knew that marriage could be a hurdle to her success. The couple wanted to be together but John’s struggle and Riya’s budding acting career was the reason they parted ways.

Romance with Ashmit Patel

While shooting for Silsiilay, Riya and Ashmit started liking each other. Soon, they were spotted together at parties, events and vacations. People thought that their relationship was strong but a controversy drifted them apart. In 2005, a video got leaked in which both the stars were seen getting intimidate after which they went underground. Ashmit stated that the video was real but the lady was adamant that it wasn’t her in the clip. Speculations were rife that it was Ashmit who leaked the video for publicity.

The controversies surrounded both the stars and they parted ways. Talking about it, Riya said,

“I thought there were people waiting to pull me down. Surprisingly, the support I got from all quarters was amazing. I am stepping out with more confidence and respect than ever before. I feel like it’s my second beginning, my second life. I can’t recall who told me about it, but my first reaction was how do I handle the situation.’ Another important thought that struck me was about facing my parents.”

She added,

“But, I am lucky to have such wonderful parents. The topic hasn’t been broached at home, at all. My parents have helped me overcome this disturbing phase. Anyone in my place would have had a nervous breakdown. It was a phase, so dreadful that I just want to forget it. Everybody around me says it’s him. But I don’t want to believe it. I trust people more than ever today. How can I not? I was overwhelmed by everybody’s love and support. I’ve started to value and respect people more than ever. My belief in God has grown.”

Rumored relationship with Salman Rushdie

After the whole controversy, Riya concentrated on her career and did many projects between 2005-08. In the mid 2008, Booker prize winner, Salman Rushdie met her in a club. It was speculated that he even gave her his number and invited her to be with him in New York. Why they parted ways was unknown but it was believed that long-distance relationship and the huge age difference was the reason. Talking about it, Riya said,

“When I have a private conversation with someone, I don’t disclose that conversation to anybody. We have spoken about almost everything under the sun. I also learnt from him that he knew a lot about my mom and dad. Most men flirt with me. Frankly, I wasn’t going to talk about Rushdie to the press. In the beginning, it sounded like fun. But of late, it had begun to affect my health. I am single and eligible, and I don’t think that I have to settle for a married man.”

With cricketer Yuvraj Singh

Indian cricket team’s Yuvraj’s name was also linked to the actress. Reports stated that after breaking up with Deepika, he was looking for someone. Apparently, they met at a party and liked each other but things couldn’t move forward because of their different temperaments.

And then Sreesanth

After Yuvraj, Sreesanth stole Riya’s heart. They met at a social gathering and instantly hit off after which the lady was spotted in every match that Sreesanth played. They dated for a year but the cricketer landed in some controversies and Riya distanced herself.
When asked if she is dating Sreesanth, the actress said,

“Guys, please! I am not dating Sreesanth! I just attended 3 matches for Kochi and that’s that! It was work! So … Rest ur imaginations.”

Finally marriage with Shivam Tiwari

On August 16, 2017, Riya took wedding vows with her long-time boyfriend Shivam Tewari in the presence of her friends and family.

Talking about the relationship, she said,

“According to me, it’s a leap of fate. Marriage doesn’t guarantee anything, it doesn’t come with perfect settings. Marriage largely entails love, respect, honesty, understanding and trust between two people, which only you can create for yourself to make it last. I think cheating is by choice not by accident. I think, real men/ women stay faithful because they love who they’ve chosen. There’s something wrong with your character if opportunity dictates over your loyalty.”
