5 Real Life Love Stories That Will Remind You That True Love Lives On Even After Death

Love, what does this word mean to you? To some, it is a commitment for a lifetime, to some, it’s loyalty and effort and to some, it means to keep you company till the end of your life. Well, whatever your definition of love is, you’d definitely relate to this, when the love of your life is around, everything seems better.

Even the greyest of skies clear out with soothing light when they are around you. So here are some real-life stories of couples who were so much in love with each other that they didn’t leave their partner side even after they passed away.

1. A daughter narrated this amazing story of her parents for Humans of New York

She said that her father was deeply in love with her mother and she used the word “obsess” for them. Her father would sing to her mother and do everything to let her know how much he loves her and that she is his world. He didn’t leave her side until her soul left her body and she was no longer there for him. She had a brain tumour. But when she was dying at the hospital bed, he told her, “You won’t be alone. I’m coming with you”.

And nobody knows what he felt. Something inside him just died with his beloved passing away. He waited though and did what needed to be done in order to be next to his wife. Her father applied for the land near his wife’s grave so that ca be together in some way. But the day he finally got the land, he passed away too.

2. Here’s another story of a man grieving the demise of his wife. Looking back at his life with her, he said

The definition of love is elusive, which is why we write about it endlessly. Even Shakespeare couldn’t touch it…Romeo and Juliet didn’t know if they liked the same books or movies. It was just physical. After 62 years, it becomes something different entirely.

Remembering the time and how every aspect of their lives was joined, he expressed the ache in his heart.

My wife used to say, “We are one”. Now that she’s gone, I realize how right she was.

Maybe then, love is a routine you don’t mind following.

3. This is a heartwrenching story of a guy who decided to live happily for the sake of his wife because that is what she wanted after she passed away.

A Twitter thread about an elderly couple, tells how both of them used to come and take medicines from a medical shop. The couple would talk to people at the chemist store and ask how everyone was doing generally. It was the same thing when one day only the man came to the shop.

He returned the medicines and said that he did not need new drugs now as his wife passed away without using the medicines. He added that he will continue to look after himself because that is what she would have desired, and left the place with an advisor every human on this planet should swear by:

4. While reading this story, you’ll feel that it’s straight from the movie The Notebook. The old couple died holding hands within minutes of each other in their early 90s.

In the early 90s an underprivileged boy, Francis fell in love with the daughter of affluent parents, Norma. All that mattered was that they both loved each other despite their financial status. Norma would write letters to Francis and he would just wait for the day they would get hitched.

Soon, the two got married and lived happily. But years later their family discovered that Norma was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. She had to be hospitalised at one point. Coincidently Francis broke his hip, and both of them were put together in the same hospital room. But not later the two of them sadly passed away within minutes of each other. During their last breath, they were together, they were one. Their daughter said

Dad was bed-bound, in pain and confused. Mum just watched him. If he refused to eat, she refused to eat. If he refused water, so did she. She was mimicking his behaviour. Some call it ‘twinning’, when two minds are perfectly in tune with each other.

5. And here we have a story about a couple that will make you believe that love doesn’t even need to communicate with words sometimes only their presence is enough

The couple met when they were young and fell in love. But they shared a relationship that didn’t need big gestures to show each other their love. From relationship to their wedding, everything came on its own.

And they lived a happy married life, until one day the wife started to forget certain things. This is when the man of her life, stepped up and decided to do everything that he could, for her.

In a Humans of New York feature, the man said:

She likes to slip her hand under my shirt to feel my skin. And she still likes to kiss. Sometimes she starts ‘yakking.’ She doesn’t say actual words. And it doesn’t make any sense. But I never tell her to be quiet, because it’s better than nothing at all.
