Company Responds After Bengaluru Man Accuses Zoomcar Of Defrauding Customers

Zoomcar is an Indian carsharing platform founded in 2013. It is headquartered in Bengaluru. They provide their services in more than 34 cities. In 2023, Zoomcar formed a new entity, Zoomcar Holdings Inc. They are a sell-drive rental company where you can select any from a variety of cars depending on your budget and needs. Zoomcar is mostly used during vacations to rent a car. In Bengaluru, a man used their services and had a bitter experience. He was so annoyed and upset by their service that he called them a fraud and insisted others to not use Zoomcar services.

A man from Bengaluru recently shared his dreadful experience with Zoomcar and called them a ‘Straight-Up Scam’

A man from Bengaluru, Adithya Venkatesan shared his unpleasant experience with Zoomcar. He took to social media platform, X and said that the company “defrauds customers”. He also added that they are not accountable for their deeds and slammed the brand for “collecting money.”

His post on X went viral. Adithya titled it “The Zoomcar Scam” while accusing the company. His post garnered several comments from other users and also prompted a reply from Zoomcar. Adithya Venkatesan wrote on X,

“Zoomcar has a crazy way to defraud customers, and it’s straight-up a scam. Here’s how it works. Once you pay up, they add the caveat of verification. Not before. AFTER you pay. And if the verification fails, there’s no way to get in touch with anyone and resolve it. This is despite having a Driving License, Aadhaar and all the relevant documents”

He also added,

“It’s a solid dark pattern that makes Zoomcar ‘collect’ money and not be accountable for what ensues. Then, they just disappear. And, you can’t get this money refunded either”

Venkatesan also called their tech “inferior” and slammed Zoomcar’s customer support. He called the company “irresponsible” and that they do not care about their customers. The social media user expressed that their service is the “worst” he has ever seen. He lastly concluded by writing,

The company responded to the viral tweet and responded with a clarification

The viral post caught the attention of Zoomcar who replied,

“Hello Adithya, as previously communicated over DM, we’ve reviewed your profile status and observed a discrepancy between the face on your driver’s license and the uploaded selfie. Hence, the profile was rejected.”

In a separate tweet, the company added that a full refund has been initiated. They wrote,

“Since you’ve cancelled the booking, a full refund has automatically been initiated and should reflect in your source account within the next 5-7 business days. In case you need any help or require further clarification, please feel free to DM us.”

Since being shared the post got over one lakh views. Several other users shared their own experiences with the company in the comments section.
