Meet Amit Jain, Car Dekho CEO And The New Judge Of Shark Tank India Season 2

Shark Tank India, the Indian franchise of the American business reality show Shark Tank has been one of the top rolling shows on Indian television as well as worldwide. It has been one of the most talked-about Indian reality series that premiered on Sony Entertainment Television. It is all set to come back with a new season, Shark Tank India Season 2. You might get to see a few changes in the judge’s panel in the second season of Shark Tank India as Ashneer Grover is about to be replaced by Amit Jain, the CEO of CarDekho.

The program also gained attention as it is one of the first shows in India that was about helping budding entrepreneurs. The sharks of the show are well-known and well-established entrepreneurs themselves.

If we remember correctly, the sharks of Shark Tank India Season 1 were Anupam Mittal, Ashneer Grover, Aman Gupta, Namita Thapar, Vineeta Singh, Peyush Bansal, and Ghazal Alagh.

Ashneer Grover was one of the sharks who grabbed attention for a lot of controversies apart from being a judge with a sharp mouth. Though audiences loved Ashneer, the founder of BharatPe was removed from his company for his involvement in an alleged fraud. Ashneer Grover and Ghazal Alagh will not be there in the second season of Shark Tank India. The rest of the five sharks will be present in the second season as well.

In a promotion video shared by Sony Entertainment Television on Tuesday, it was revealed that Amit Jain will be the new shark in this installment. The curiosity about the new shark of season 2 has been high. So, here we are to quench your thirst.

Now, who is the new shark Amit Jain?

Amit Jain is the CEO and co-founder of CarDekho. CarDekho is an online portal for selling and buying used cars.

Here are a few interesting things about Amit Jain, the new shark of Shark Tank India Season 2:

1. Amit Jain age is 45 years as of 2022 and he hails from Jaipur

2. Amit Jain studied at Jaipur’s Saint Xavier’s School and is an alumnus of IIT Delhi

3. Before starting his first startup in India, Amit used to work as a Software Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and then a company based in Austin, Texas

4. Amit Jain and his brother Anurag Jain changed their garage into a temporary office in 2006 and launched the software outsourcing company GirnarSoft

5. Then he started CarDekho in 2007 with his brother which turned into a billion-dollar company. He mentioned this on an HT Smartcast show Minding My Business: The CEO Story

6. He got the idea of CarDekho when he and his brother visited the 2008 Auto Expo in New Delhi

“Our goal was to leverage technology and provide the best-in-class car buying or selling experience to the users. We set up a portal where people could come to find the right information and review cars before making the decision of buying”

7. After 7 years CarDekho started to prosper and in 2013 the company secured Series-A funding of $15 Million

8. Amit claimed recently that the company is currently valued at $1.2 billion

9. The new shark’s take on business

When he was asked in an interview with Hindustan Times when making tough business decisions, whether he makes most of them from his head or heart, Jain told,

“I think I am both, depending on the context. I am very objective most of the times. When it comes to people side of things, I am more heart and when it comes to business side of things, I am more head.”

He also added about expanding his business in different countries,

“We are in South East Asia now. Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines are three we have already been doing business in. It’s been a good start.”
