Ajay Devgn and Kajol are one of the most adorable couples of Bollywood. When we look at them, the first thing that comes to our mind is, opposites attract. It was said that they are ‘unlikely pair’ and would not last long because of their contrasting personalities. However, the stars proved everybody wrong and they are living their happily ever after.
The Marriage
Kajol used to read a novel, Mills and Boon and she found her Mr. Right in Ajay. After dating for 4 years, the couple got married as per Maharashtrian style on February 24, 1999.

Talking about their relationship, Ajay once said,
“We never resorted to the usual ‘I love you’ routine. A proposal never happened. We grew with each other. Marriage was never discussed, but it was always imminent.”
Ajay always wanted his marriage to be private and this was the reason, the couple didn’t hire a photographer and he would be the only one with the camera. Only close friends and family were present. Soon after their marriage, they went to a two-month-long honeymoon to Europe.
Controversies
It is never easy for celebrities to guard their personal lives. After the couple’s marriage, many reports surfaced that stated that Kajol is not able to maintain good relations with her in-laws. It was also speculated that Ajay was having an extra-marital affair with a young actress.
Talking about it, Kajol said,

“I don’t believe in those rumours because I know the way this industry functions. You cannot continue a marriage without the basic trust. Frankly, I don’t care for such talk.”
Tough time
In 2001, Devgn family was extremely happy as Kajol was ready to welcome her first child. However, she suffered a miscarriage in the sixth month of her pregnancy. Ajay informed the media about it. He said,
“Both of us were thrilled when we learnt of the pregnancy. If not today, tomorrow we will look forward to starting a family. Kajol will be back on her feet before you know it. We’re happy together and that’s all that matters.”
Their little bundle of joy
Two years after Kajol’s miscarriage, she gave birth to her daughter, Nysa on April 20, 2003. They became parents of a boy, Yug, seven years later. Kajol has been a doting mother. She said no to many good films just to take care of her kids. Ajay, on the other, loves his daughter a lot and find it irritating if she is not around when he has a day off.
Happily Ever After
While talking about her husband, Kajol once said in an interview,
“I’m really nasty, critical and cutting. Ajay is a much better person than me. It’s not easy being the sensible one all the time, but he’s such a gentleman.”
They supported each other and fought every battle together. When they were asked about the secret behind their marriage, the actress said on Hindustan Times Leadership Summit,
“We dated for almost four years before getting married and we are best friends. I think our relationship has worked only because I speak a lot and he quietly listens. So the secret to our happy married life is that Ajay doesn’t say much.”
Ajay jokingly said,
“I sometimes listen and sometimes I just pretend to listen.”
On a related note, Kajol and Ajay were last seen together in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The film did wonderful business at the box office.
