1. Rihanna – Quote from Bhagwad Gita 10.4-5
Rihanna is one of the biggest names in music. She has a Sanskrit quote from Bhagavad Gita tattooed on her right side of the waist down to her leg. Some Hindu scholars had pointed out a misspelling in the quote, which made it all infamous.
The actual quote is from Gita 10.4-5:
“Buddhir jñānam asammohaḥ
Kṣamā satyaṁ damaḥ śamaḥ
Sukhaṁ duḥkhaṁ bhavo ‘bhāvo
Bhayaṁ cābhayam eva ca
Ahiṁsā samatā tuṣṭis
Tapo dānaṁ yaśo ‘yaśaḥ
Bhavanti bhāvā bhūtānāṁ
Matta eva pṛthag-vidhāḥ”
A misspelling has translated the meaning from “forgiveness, honesty, suppression and control” to “long suffering, truthfulness, self-restraint, inward calm, fear and fearlessness.”
2. David Beckham – Victoria (his wife’s name)
David Beckham is among our favorite footballers and, oh damn, among the sexiest men on the planet. David is married to Victoria Beckham and he expressed his love by getting the name of his wife tattooed in Hindi on his left arm. On the part of the artist, the name got spelled incorrectly, but David decided to keep it as it is.

3. Angelina Jolie – Pali script on beauty
Among the most beautiful actresses, Angelina has a tattoo in Pali script on her left shoulder blade. She got the tattoo when her son Maddox entered her life. The tattoo on her shoulder translates to:

Russell Brand who was in a relationship with Katy Perry got himself tattooed AnuugacchatuPravaha which is a Sanskrit phrase on his right arm. The phrase means “Go with the flow”. Russell Brand is a comedian and he split ways with Katy Perry because of time and schedule issues.

After mentioning Russell Brand, we come to Katy Perry, who is an international pop phenomenon and was previously in a relationship with the comedian. They both have the same tattoo of AnuugacchatuPravaha on their right bicep.

Miley Cyrus, who has her fame from the start of Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel, has her wrist tattooed with Om. Seems like Om is really trending in the pop culture.

Our favorite Tommy Lee, from Mötley Crüe, also has a tattoo in Hindi. It is an Om which is placed right below his belly button. A lot of celebrities have the same tattoo but we like the placement on Tommy Lee. Moreover, the connotation suits his personality really good.

Brittany Snow is among our favorite stars from Pitch Perfect and she has a tattoo on the ankle of her right foot, in Hindi, which reads Abhay. Abhay translates to the one without any fear, embracing her fearless personality.

Jessica Alba has gone through a lot in her life and she has risen above all of that, which keeps her inspired. She has got a tattoo which reads the Padma, on her right wrist. The Padma translates to the lotus, which symbolizes the flower that comes from the deep water. This keeps her motivated.

13. Gillian Anderson – Unknown word in Hindi
This is a confusing story. She has a tattoo in Hindi on her wrist but she wanted a tattoo in Sanskrit, and the funny part is, she does not even know the meaning of the tattoo that’s on her wrist. When she is asked about the meaning of the tattoo, she does not have an answer.
14. Adam Levine – Tapas (pronounced: tá-pus)
His body is like a color book. Levine has many tattoos on his body and one of them is Tapas, which is on the left side of his chest. The singer said that it means inner fire or a strong feeling for something like Yoga.
15. Theo Walcott – Om Namah Shivay
Theo Walcott is a footballer and has got himself tattooed “Om Namah Shivay” running down his spine. He is the only foreign celebrity on this list who has a tattoo in praise of a Hindu god. He also carried four words in Sanskrit tattooed on his right wrist – Beautiful, Blessed, Strong, Intelligent – which he dedicated to his sister, himself, his father, and his brother, respectively. He plays for Arsenal.
