Aman Ki Asha Young Pakistanis Girls placard

There was a stoic silence from the government that apparently runs Pakistan when a terrorist from Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) attacked a CRPF convoy in Pulwama killing 44 troopers and injuring scores of others. The main culprit was trained by the Pakistan-based group led by Maulana Masood Azhar, who enjoys the patronage of the powerful Pak Army and the ISI. Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, opened his mouth only on Tuesday – five days after the attack. Though he said that his government will take action against anyone in his country if India provides proof, the haughty Khan also threatened retaliation if New Delhi chose to go the military way to avenge Pulwama. The excuse that Khan gave for the delay in issuing a statement was the visit of Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, who promised funds to help Khan manage the daily expenses of his economically-starved country.

But while Khan, a puppet of the Army, chose to remain quiet for long and continues to claim innocence, some people of his country showed the courage to accept Pakistan’s folly. They held up placards expressing solidarity with the CRPF martyrs and condemned the cowardly attack. Leading the pack was independent journalist Sehyr Mirza, who also quoted a poem by Indian poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhiyanvi:

“Whether blood be ours or theirs, Its the blood of humankind.
Whether wars be waged in the east or west, It is the murder of world-peace.
Whether houses be bombed or borders, The temple of the Soul is wounded.
War is a problem itself. How will war resolve problems?
Today it will rain fire and blood, Tomorrow, hunger and scarcity.”

We salute the brave spirit of these young Pakistanis. Their call for humanity should hopefully make Pakistan become aware of its crimes against humanity.
