Young Indian Cricketers Life

Despite the worst odds and Team India suffering with multiple injuries they were able to win the Test series in Australia and a Test match in Gabba in 32 years. With a young and in-experienced team the performance they gave was top class.

Let’s have a look at the backgrounds of some of the young Indian cricket stars who stepped up for India and surprised everyone with their match winning performance:

1. Mohammed Siraj

Born on 13 March 1994 in Hyderabad Mohammed Siraj was born to Mohammed Ghaus and Shabana Begum. Siraj father was a an auto-rickshaw driver while his mother is a housewife. The pacer lost his father recently when he was in Australia for Test series and was not able to attend final rites due to COVID restrictions in Australia. The family always supported his son’s ambitions with his limited resources.

2. Navdeep Saini

Born on 23 November 1992 in Karnal, Haryana Navdeep Saini dreamt to become a professional cricketer but he couldn’t afford it during his young days and used to play cricket with the tennis ball. Navdeep’s father Amarjeet Singh Saini, was employed with the government of Haryana as a driver and mother Gurmeet Saini is a homemaker. Gautam Gambhir played an instrumental role in bringing Navdeep career.

3. Rishabh Pant

A 12 year old child is sleeping in a bus. It’s 12:30 am and he is on he way to Delhi, A six-hour journey from Roorkee just to play cricket. His mother is beside him with packed paneer parathas in tiffin box and coffee in flask. In Delhi Pant and his mother would spend their night in a Gurudwara at Motibagh. In morning Rishabh Pant starts his practice at the Sonnet cricket academy and this was the weekend routine for quite some time before they moved to capital.

4. Shardul Thakur

Shardul Narendra Thakur was born on 16 October 1991 in the small town of Palgarh, about a hundred kilometres from Mumbai. Shardul says his father is farmer and he has taught him to keep trying in every situation. Thakur would catch the local train at 4.45am every morning to go to his school in Borivali and would also travel alone to Azad Maidan when he was in Class 8 for practice with all his heavy cricket gear.

5. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill father, Lakhwinder Singh wanted to become a cricketer but could not fulfill his dream. So, he decided to make his son a good cricketer. Shubman Gill was born on 8 September 1999 in Fazilka, Punjab. Shubman had cricketing ability at an early age so his father took the opportunity to train him. Gill’s father would hire help on farm to throw balls at Shubman to help him practice batting. Later the family moved to Mohali and rented a house near PCA Stadium.

6. Thangarasu Natarajan

Born in a small village of Chinnappampatti, a village near Salem in Tamil Nadu Natarajan is eldest of the five siblings. He comes from a very humble family background. His father worked as a coolie while his mother sells fast-food on the street in the evening. Natrajan once told Cricbuzz, “If not for cricket, I would have become a coolie.”

7. Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar was born 5 October 1999 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father M. Sundar himself made it to the Tamil Nadu Ranji probable squad and named his son in honour of a man named P.D. Washington, who had sponsored the elder Sundar’s cricket passion.
