Who Will Win the English Premier League 21-22

Man City were comfortable winners of the Premier League in 20/21, wresting the title from a Liverpool side who were all at sea without their talismanic centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

The new 21/22 season promises to be a far closer affair with Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool all having squads worthy of making a title challenge. Man Utd could even get themselves in the mix if Ole Gunnar Solskjær can get his team of individuals playing as a cohesive unit.

The Premier League is wide open this season with any number of teams having the potential to take the crown from Pep and Co.

Man City – All is Not Well at the Etihad

They may be given a run for their money by Newcastle when it comes to wealth, but Man City are still the dominant force in English football, having won last season’s Premier League at a canter, and living up to the odds placed on them by online betting sites.

They began this campaign as betting favorites too, although that was with the understanding that Harry Kane would be joining them from Tottenham. Of course, Daniel Levy dug his heels in to scupper that move and left Guardiola without a recognized front-line striker. Luckily for him he had Raheem Sterling fresh from a scintillating performance at Euro 2020, where he led the England side all the way to the final. Unfortunately, the England’s stars relationship with the Catalan manager appears to have completely broken down and he could be out the door as soon as January. That will severely damage the chances of people using their free bets to bet on City retaining their Premier League crown, because how will they win the league with a wealth of attacking midfielders, but no recognized elite strikers? Having said that, the Sky Blues are still riding high in the standings, but betting tipsters and odds makers could begin to fancy their rivals as the season drags on.

Newcastle might just have become the richest club in the world, but their owner’s money will not filter onto the pitch until next season, by which time the Toon might be in the Championship.

Chelsea – Champions League Winners Want Domestic Glory

Everyone was shocked when club legend Frank Lampard was jettisoned from his position as Chelsea manager to be replaced by German coach, Thomas Tuchel. At the time it was seen as a strange move, until it garnered the most extraordinary results in the form of an unexpected Champions League triumph.

The Blues have not rested on their laurels, using Román Abramóvich’s deep pockets to go out and strengthen their squad with Romelu Lukaku. They are perhaps the most rounded and compact team in the league and resemble the side that was so successful under José Mourinho. At the time of writing, they are top of the standings and it will take a special team to dislodge them.

Liverpool – The Real Liverpool are Back

Liverpool were strangely out of sorts last season as they missed the defensive rock that is Virgil van Dijk. There appear to be no such problems this time around, with the team flying in both the league and in the Champions League group stages.

Their defensive frailties are part of what make them so exciting to watch, but that may catch up to them when injuries begin to kick in during the second half of the season. However, if Mo Salah keeps scoring at the rate of a goal a game, then they may just be in with a shot of delivering a second Premier League title for Jürgen Klopp.

Man Utd – Good on Paper but Not on Grass

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has amassed a group of players that is the envy of the league and yet he is struggling to extract the sort of performances that Utd fans expect. Not a week goes by without criticism coming from the likes of Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher. He may not be in a job for long, and it depends on who replaces him as to whether Utd can mount a serious title challenge this season.
