We’ve been watching the show for about a month to satisfy our burning desire to know something unique about the startup ecosystem-, which the show correctly provides. It is presently the most talked-about issue on social media and has spawned a slew of memes. The judges, although being well-known in their fields, are relishing their newfound celebrity status, which is beneficial to their businesses.
However, like other programmes, this programme is also not untouchable of critics, who point out how judges belittle budding entrepreneurs and sceptics who question the show’s credibility.
Nonetheless, it is obvious that the more attention any programme receives, the more observant viewers try to pull apart the programme. As a result, Shark Anupam Mittal took it to LinkedIn and politely debunked the common myths related to Shark Tank India.
1. About the show being scripted
By claiming that he was surprised to find that they would be presented to the concept for the first time on stage, Shark Mittal debunks this misconception. He also emphasized that everything is genuine, including emotions, drama, and finance. He said,

“In fact, I was surprised to find out that the first time we would be exposed to the idea and the founders is when they walk through the door of the tank.”
2. The Sharks are NOT investing their own money
If the sharks are investing someone else’s money, the number of highs and lows they have with the entrepreneurs is irrelevant. Without a doubt, it is their own money.
3. The Sharks are deliberately rude
When a potential concept is coupled with an unreasonable request, the Sharks’ passion shines through. Although the outburst appears to be nasty, the purpose is to pave the way for the pitcher’s victory. He said,
“We are just passionate. So when one sees that there is a potential idea with an impractical ask, one can react strongly. We all want each and every pitcher to succeed.”
4. Sharks take large stakes in companies
Because the Sharks are putting their own money on the line, they must be happy with the agreement. Aside from that, they’re devoting their time to assisting the company in climbing the success ladder.
5. The Sharks are here only to flaunt themselves
Without a doubt, the show helps sharks indirectly in boosting their businesses. Their larger purpose, though, is to contribute in some way to India’s democratisation of entrepreneurship.
6. The Sharks don’t fund deserving companies
The Sharks are in the greatest position to decide whom to support, and their decisions are based on their expertise and experience. Whether the pitchers land a deal or not, the platform ensures advantages by opening many doors for them outside of the programme.
7. The show is not like the US Shark Tank
It’s not meant to be identical in the first place. Despite the fact that the structure is the same, the two countries are vastly different and, as a result, require distinct approaches. He said,

“Our attitudes, emotions & culture set us apart. Even popular global shows, including KBC, have developed their own unique character for India.”
8. The Sharks have only one pair of clothes
Mittal, unfortunately, had hoped for a resolution to his complaint but instead received numerous replicas of the same outfit from Sony. On a practical level, they do modify their fits, and the purpose for doing so is to provide editing flexibility. He said,
“Tell me about it! I had the same complaint and Sony was kind enough to get us multiple copies of the same 🙈 Seriously, we do change.”
