10 Revelations About Friends That Every Fan Would Not Want To Miss

It has been 26 years since Friends aired, and the rom-com is considered one of the funniest shows till now. Though fans are totally crazy about the show and they literally remember every punchline of their favourite characters including their biographies. But still, there are some questions unanswered and fans would be eager to learn them.

1. Was the background laughter real?

All the episodes have been shot in front of people, in around 200-300. The crowd mostly included the actor’s friends, crew and celebrities who died heart fans of the show. It took 5-6 hours to shoot one episode. When friends became famous amongst people, people literally paid $5000 for the first rows.

2. Was the Turkey real, which Courteney Cox put on her head

Courtney said she wanted the turkey to be real so that later Mathew could put it on his head, but even after trying the biggest turkey, none could fit into their head so they had to make a turkey of foam. Turkeys were too small to fit into a human’s head.

3. Where was the opening fountain scene shot?

People believe that the scene was filmed in Cherry Hill Fountain which is in central park, but just for their knowledge, it was filmed in one of the Warner Bros pavilions in LA that too early in the morning. Matt Le Blanc mentioned that shooting took quite a long time to finish and the skin of their fingers became all wrinkly.

The entire show was filmed in LA studio and NY scenes were shot separately and some of the scenes were filmed against the green mat.

4. Was Gunther really a Barista?

Yes, this is true that James Michael Tyler was a real barista when the shooting started. He had mastered Fine Arts that time, and he worked in movies for extra. A friend of his asked him if he wants to act for $40 and free lunch for the role of silent barista whose work was to get coffees to main heroes without any sound. A little sound also used to make the sound director go crazy, he mentioned but it was really thrilling to go from a silent barista to having his own dialogue throughout the season.

5. Is Days of our Lives a real show?

Yes, it has been on the TV since 1965, though Joey was never a part of this show. The show holds the third position as the longest-running show in the US and fourth in the world based entirely on the number of episodes it released. The reason for the show being mentioned is that Jennifer Anniston and Matthew’s father’s acted in the show.

6. What does the “ugly naked guy” actually look like?

The Ugly Naked Guy has kept the identity hidden for almost 20 years. No one knew actually who played the role of the ugly naked guy. IMDB kept holding people for quite a long in convincing that this character was played by Mike Hagerty, who was also seen as Mr Treeger in the show.

But in 2016, we finally came to know that the role of the ugly naked guy was played by the actor Jon Haugen.

7. Do the actors from Friends still appear in movies?

The most famous of the friends is Jennifer Aniston, who appeared in many movies like- Almighty Bruce, The Break-up, Marley & Me, We’re the Millers and many more. The other actors have also had a very good career in acting. Matt LeBlanc was seen in Friends spin-off, Joey. David Schwimmer was also seen in many roles and he even voiced for Melman, the giraffe in Madagascar. Later he concentrated more on his directing career.

Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox did become best friends during the show itself. Jennifer is known as the Godmother of Courteney’s child. In 2018 when Jennifer divorced Justin Theroux, Courteney was there with her throughout and supported her and also accompanied her to events. Lisa Kudrow and Courteney are also on good terms with each other.

Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer don’t meet each other often but they have been in contact for 15 years even after the show. They are still seen together in many events but they never commented on their friendship.

9. What does Ross and Rachael’s daughter look like?

The role of Emma was played by twin sisters Noelle and Cali Sheldon who would be 19 this year. They have appeared in some short movies as well.

10. How could the actors perform in really funny scenes without laughing?

Well, they don’t actually. You could see hundreds of retakes and bloopers while they film for it. They have a great time doing it and actually take a lot of effort. In friends, it was usually Matthew who could not control the laughter and made everyone laugh along with him during the show.
