The growth of cab-hailing services has changed the way of commuting in India as well as abroad. The app-based platforms such as Uber, Ola, and Rapid have become everyone’s go-to mobile apps, where people are getting rides at the click of a finger. Such platforms provided several features, including tracking, fare estimation, information regarding drivers, and several payment modes. The ease of booking rides via such platforms is undeniable. However, as the industry has expanded, it has also encountered a range of challenges.
Several safety concerns regarding passengers, issues related to data privacy, surge pricing, and others have surfaced over time. Several incidents have highlighted the darker side of these services, raising questions about background checks and grievance redressal mechanisms.
