Her father’s name is Aanand Sawant, who was a constable at Worli police station. Her mother’s name is Jaya Sawant, who is also the sister of film director Rakesh Sawant and former actress Usha Sawant.

Rakhi Sawant has struggled and suffered a lot in her life

An emotional Rakhi Sawant also spoke about her upbringing and how she and her family lived in Mumbai’s Chawl system.

“In a Chawl system, parents don’t allow a girl to go outdoors and play yet when it comes to earning money they let her go ahead and do anything.”

In this statement, she tried to reflect on her childhood’s traumatic situation, which referred to those unusual moments of her life when she forgets about her family’s disgrace and humour. Even in her wildest imagination, she didn’t want to return to her unpleasant past. She continued,

“I still try to find my childhood somewhere… like a kid I love to eat popcorn and watch films that are so sad. All these little things I missed doing earlier. Even if someone gives me diamonds to go back to my childhood, I won’t!”

Those lines told about her childhood that she wanted to do everything other normal children do in their childhood, but the money crunch not only took away those tiny moments of happiness from her but also the family’s love and warmth.

Rakhi worked as a waitress

During her interview with GR8!, she disclosed that she had worked as a waiter at the wedding of billionaire Anil Ambani and actress Tina Munim in 1991. A caterer hired her at the age of 10 to earn mere 50 rupees a day. She also served meals during Tina Ambani’s wedding. She said,

“When I was around 10 years of age I was working for a caterer to earn daily wages of 50 rupees and I have served food at Tina Ambani’s wedding.”

It was family pressure that made Rakhi a waitress at Anil Ambani’s wedding. In an interview, Rakhi Sawant said that the sole reason for her mother’s existence was to watch her earn money for herself and the family. She had always supported Rakhi towards employment. Rakhi said on this,

“I cry a lot since childhood and ask God why did you give me such a family who tortures women and gives freedom to men only? My mother’s only motto in life was to make me earn money.”

When Rakhi left her home to purse her dreams

Rakhi belonged to a family where women or girls in the house did not have freedom. At the age of 11, her mother and uncle had cut Rakhi’s long hair together after insisting on dancing Dandiya. The hair was cut in such a way that it looked like the hair had been burnt. Rakhi stood in front of the mirror all day and cried. On the same day, Rakhi decided to go against her family and purse her dreams.

Not so successful acting career

Rakhi started her career in Bollywood in 1997 with the film Agnichakra. She then did some minor characters and dance numbers in films like Zoru Ka Ghulam, Yeh Raat Hai Pyaar Ki and Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rahta Hai, etc. She played and danced in many low budget films in her early career and appeared in a video album Pardesia in 2005. But she has not yet found any movie as the main lead.

Rakhi Sawant’s flunked political career

Apart from the world of acting, Rakhi Sawant has also entered the political world. In 2014, Rakhi Sawant formed one of her independent political parties, the National Aam Party, and contested the Lok Sabha elections. However, her party suffered a severe defeat in the elections. Rakhi Sawant then joined the Republican Party of India.

Rakhi’s weird love life

Rakhi Sawant’s life is so weird in terms of love. At first, Rakhi was in a relationship with model and actor Abhishek Awasthi for a long time. The two also won the dance reality show Nach Baliye together. The two also came to an end, but the relationship broke up before they reached the wedding stage.

Rakhi then created her Swayamvar on national television, but she did not succeed either.
