Amid such fesitivities it is important that we ensure to maintain decency while enjoying. However, n a distressing event, a Muslim family faced harassment as a group of men in Dhampur city, Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh, targeted them with colors just before Holi.

Although the exact timing of the incident remains unclear, a widely circulated video on social media has sparked calls for action against the perpetrators. The footage shows the men surrounding the family, which included two women and a man on a bike, forcibly applying colors and dousing them with water, purportedly in the spirit of Holi. It is important to note that this event took place before Holi.

The video very well depicts the discomfort that the family is experiencing. The family of three tries to shield themselves when the men throws water and apply colour on them but it seems of no use. Shockingly, when the family questioned and asked them to stop, the harassers resorted to religious chants like ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’, adding another layer of distress to the ordeal.

The video of this incident is going viral on X (formerly known as Twitter). A user with the username Zulqarnain shared the video as he captioned it,

“Will this not be called teasing??

Is it not a crime to stop women, raise religious slogans and forcefully apply colors??

Ramadan is going on, people go out for shopping!”

Bijnor Police gave a prompt response via their social media account on X

Several other accounts on X also re-shared the videos and tagged the Bijnor police, demanding them to take action. After receiving alerts from various social media users, the Bijnor Police assured that they are taking the matter seriously.

The Dhampur Area Officer has been instructed to investigate and take appropriate action. The Superintendent of Police for Bijnor district mentioned that efforts are underway to identify the individuals involved in the video. Additionally, the Dhampur circle officer has been tasked with speaking to the victims and initiating a thorough investigation.

Four boys have been arrested in the case

One of them is Anirudh, also known as Annu Verma, along with three other minors. They have been charged under IPC sections 147, 341, 323, 504, 509, and 354.
