Palak Muchhal is not only a pretty face and voice, she is much more than that. Young playback singer and social activist hailing from Indore has been doing various stage shows across India and abroad to raise funds for poor children dealing with heart ailments to provide them financial support. With the funds she has raised till now, she has been able to save at least the lives of 1400 children.

Palak Muchhal’s name is on both the Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book of World Records, for her contribution to social works. She also has been recognized through various awards and honours by the Government of India and other public institutions.

1. Palak Muchhal was born on March 30, 1992

Palak was born in a Maheshwari Marwari family to Rajkumar and Amita Muchhal in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

2. Palak Muchhal’s family comprises four members

Her father, Rajkumar Mucchal works for a private firm, and her mother, Amita Muchhal is a homemaker. She also has a younger brother Palash Muchhal who is also a renowned singer.

3. Palak did her schooling at Queens College, Indore, Madhya Pradesh

She also stated in 2013 that she is doing her B.Com finals from a college in Indore.

4. Palak Muchhal started singing at the age of 4

Palak started singing very early she was just 4 years old when she was registered as a member of Kalyanji-Anandji little star. She also sang in a small shop in Indore to raise funds for the family of deceased Kargil soldiers (1999).

In the same year 1999, she sang to raise finds for the victims of the 1999 Odisha cyclone.

5. Palak initially had no connection to the Bollywood industry

It was her mother who understood her love for the music, and when they shifted to Mumbai her classical, Urdu, and voice culture training started. In Mumbai, she got acquainted with Bollywood star Salman Khan, who recommended her as a playback singer.

6. Palak can sing in 17 different languages

She can sing in 17 languages including Hindi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Oriya, Assamese, Rajasthani, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Sindhi, and Malayalam.

7. Palak has always helped the needy

Along with her brother at the age of seven, she started singing for charity and she got this unique idea to use her voice for a good cause when she saw a girl using her cloth to clean a train compartment. It is the same time when Palak’s school approached her parents to raise funds for the treatment of Lokesh who was suffering from a congenital heart ailment.

She used a vendor’s cart to raise funds and collected Rs 51,000 for his treatment, which made Bangalore-based cardiologist Devi Prasad Shetty so impressed that he operated on Lokesh free of cost.

As of October 2020, she with her brother has saved lives of 2,200 children.

8. Palak’s Bollywood career as a playback singer

Palak released many non-Bollywood songs and albums at a young age. When Salman Khan introduced her to Aditya Chopra at Yash Raj Films she got her big break and sang Laapata for the film Ek Tha Tiger and there was no looking back, basically, it opened the doors for her in Bollywood. Her song in Aashiqui 2, Chahun Main Yaa Na was superhit.

9. Palak Muchhal has a chapter dedicated to her name by CBSE and Maharashtra board

She clicked 2 pictures of the textbook where all the good things were written about her. She has a chapter in a Sanskrit book that mentions how she used her talent to help the needy and raise funds for people in need. Well, we all know now Palak Muchhal is a name that needs no introduction.

10. Palak Muchhal also opened a hospital

She used Twitter to express her happiness about her dream hospital taking a concrete shape that would help patients with heart treatment who cannot afford it.

11. Palak Muchhal awards and recognitions

She has a number of prestigious and notable recognitions and awards under her cap. Palak won a silver medal in National Child Award For Exceptional Achievement (Rashtriya Bal Puraskar) by Vice-President of India Krishan Kant in 2000. She won Best Female Playback Singer awards for her songs Meri Aashiqui and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’s title track and many more for her outstanding playback singing and contribution to the Bollywood film industry.
