The International Court of Justice is currently hearing a plea regarding Kulbhushan Jadhav who is in Pakistan jail on the charges of spying. Kulbhushan Jadhav was given death penalty by a Pakistan’s military court in 2017 which was later appealed at ICJ.
Pakistan’s delegation team is led by Attorney General for Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan while comprising other officials including Director Foreign Affairs Fareha Bugti, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Netherlands Shujjat Ali Rathore.
Whereas, India’s delegation includes officials from Ministry of External Affairs Deepak Mittal, VD Sharma, S Senthil Kumar and Sandeep Kumar, and India’s Ambassador to the Netherlands Venu Rajamony.
Responding to India’s argument on Monday, Pakistan’s representative lawyer Khawar Qureshi said:
“India is living in a wonderland. It is sitting on a weak wall of lies just like Humpty Dumpty and on one day will have a great fall.”
And in a huge surprise, lawyer Khawar Qureshi to support his arguments cited three articles published in Indian media in the ICJ to claim Jadhav was a spy of India.

1. Pakistani quoted an article written by Journalist Karan Thapar in The Indian Express in 2017
Where, Pakistan said Thapar questioned the stand of Indian government on Jadhav.
2. An article written by Praveen Swami in January 2018 for Frontline
In which Pakistan said Swami had claimed that Jadhav was indeed on an espionage mission in Pakistan.
3. Article by Chandan Nandy published in The Quint
The article by Nandy alleged that Jadhav has two passports, one in his own name and another with the name Hussein Mubarak Patel, and this was presented as a proof that he was working for RAW in Pakistan.
Later the story was taken down by The Quint.
All these articles were widely quoted by Pakistani media, as proofs that the claims of Pakistan are true.
Indian paper ‘The Quint’ had in one of its stories accepted the truth that Kulbhushan Jadhav was a spy and that some RAW officials had reservations about his appointment.

This is not the first time a report published by Indian media was used against India in a court outside the country. During the hearing for Vijay Mallya’s extradition case in London, Mallya’s lawyers had used articles published against then CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana in trying to prove that the case against Mallya was politically motivated. The London court had rejected those arguments and ordered the extradition of Mallya to India.
