44-year-old Namita Thapar is a well-known name on India’s list of successful entrepreneurs. She is one of the Sharks on Shark Tank India, an Indian reality show.

Emcure Pharmaceutical, an Indian multinational pharmaceutical firm situated in Pune, with Namita Thapar as its Executive Director. She is one of India’s most successful businesswomen, and she recently joined Emcure as Chief Financial Officer.

Namita Thapar was born in Pune on March 21, 1977. She is  Satish Mehta and Bhavna Mehta’s daughter. Satish Mehta, her father, was the first in his family to establish a business and is the founder of Emcure Pharmaceuticals in Pune. He presently serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD). He founded Emcure in 1981 as a first-generation entrepreneur and visionary with the goal of providing people with cheap, high-quality healthcare that would greatly enhance their lives.

Namita Thapar is married to Vikas Thapar. He is a key member of the Emcure management team for the past 15 years. He was initially in charge of Business Development, but his responsibilities grew over time, and he now oversees Corporate Strategy and Finance as well.

Vikas Thapar has been instrumental in Emcure’s expansion and success across Europe and Canada. Vir Thapar and Jai Thapar are the couple’s two sons.

Namita Thapar was born and raised in Pune, where she received her early schooling. Following that, Namita Thapar earned a Chartered Accountant (CA) degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Namita went on to Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business to get an MBA and a degree.

Namita Thapar has worked in finance and marketing roles for many firms in the United States since 2001, including GlaxoSmithKline and Guidant Corporation.

Namita joined Emcure as CFO in 2007 after six years with Guidant Corporation in the United States. Namita Thapar joined Emcure as the Finance Manager and has since played an essential role in the organisation. Namita is a member of Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd’s Executive Board and now manages the company’s India operations.
