He had a love marriage with Nita Ambani, the Indian dancer, and philanthropist. Nita was featured in India today in 2016 in the list of the ‘the fifty high and mighty Indians. She is also the founder and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation which is a philanthropic organization. The introduction and the bloom of love
It all started with Mukesh Ambani’s parents. They had first seen Nita in a Bharatnatyam show where Nita had created a lasting impression in their heart with her amazing dancing skills. Dhirubhai Ambani had already chosen her as the future daughter in law of the Ambani family. She was later summoned by Dhirubhai Ambani to which she was astonished and was asked if she wanted to meet Mukesh Ambani. Later Nita was introduced to Mukesh Ambani who instantly liked her for her beauty and charming personality. Her passion for teaching had also won his heart.
The dramatic proposal
Well, Mukesh had not proposed his lady love traditionally with flowers or gifts rather he had proposed Nita in a filmy manner. He took Nita on a date and while driving the car he had stopped it suddenly in the middle of traffic. He asked Nita if she would marry him and will not start the car until she replies. Young and naïve Nita did not have an option but to tell him yes.
The marriage
When given the proposal for marriage, Nita had expressed her desire to work post marriage to which Mukesh Ambani had consented and even now she runs the Dhirubhai Ambani International School. She was not a gold-digger and had not married in the Ambani family due to their financial status but rather she always insisted on having her financial independence. With the consent of both families, they both got united in the bond of marriage in March 1985, when Nita was only 20 years old.
They were later blessed with three children- 2 sons Akash and Anant and a daughter, Isha Ambani. Akash and Isha are twins.
The difficult dates
It was difficult for them initially to manage time for each other and to have some picture-perfect moments. Post marriage, Mukesh was a busy professional man and used to work till 11 in the night. Nita too had a hectic schedule and was used to be occupied till late hours. However, the couple managed to keep their romance alive. Currently, they live in ‘Antilia’, a private 27 story building in Mumbai.
