5 Blockbuster Movies Rejected By Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar, the ‘Khiladi’ of Bollywood is one of the most sought after, down to earth and refined actor of the industry. Akshay Kumar is a role model for those who dream big. He made his mark in the industry on sheer talent and hard work despite having good looks and a pleasant personality. Akshay has been a part of many movies and delivered innumerable performances. In a progressive career spanning across 25 years, Akshay Kumar had to reject certain movies because of busy schedule, date issues or lack of an appealing script or character.

Here we come up with a list of five blockbuster movie rejected by Akshay Kumar:

1. Baazigar– 1993

The 1993 thriller Baazigar presented Shah Rukh Khan in lead and negative role which fetched King Khan a great amount of critical acclaim. Though Abbas-Mastan wanted to cast Salman Khan in the lead role but he turned down the offer. Further they roped Akshay Kumar for the role who also turned down the offer claiming the negative role will spoil his image.

Later Akshay Kumar appeared in a negative role in the movie Ajnabee which was also directed by Abbas-Mastan.

2. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag– 2013

The movie based on the life of Milkha Singh presented Farhan Akhtar in the titular role. Though Farhan Akhtar was not the first choice of the filmmakers. Both Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Milkha Singh wanted Akshay Kumar to be cast in the lead role. But Akshay turned down the offer because he was not satisfied with the script.

Later the performance of Farhan Akhtar in the movie garnered from the audience and the critics as well and the film went on to become a commercial hit at the box-office.

3. Race– 2008

The Abbas-Mastan action-thriller starring Saif Ali Khan was a commercial hit and a significant leap in the career of Saif. Though Abbas-Mastan wanted to cast Akshay Kumar in the role played by Saif.

But Akshay turned down the offer due to the reasons best known to him and hence the plan didn’t materialise. Had Akshay accepted the offer, the film would have been successful at another level.

4. A Hollywood film

Little do we know that Akshay Kumar was once approached by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) studios for a movie featuring ‘The Rock- Dwayne Johnson’. However Akshay Kumar turned down the movie putting forward reasons that he was not convinced with his character in his film.

Surely the immense experience in the Bollywood film industry has taught ‘Khiladi Kumar’ to choose the best for him.

5. Ready (Character Dheela Hai Song)- 2011

The item song Character Dheela Hai starring Salman Khan and Zareen Khan from the movie Ready was meant to be picturized on Akshay Kumar. The song was planned to be picturized on Akshay Kumar and was to be incorporated into his movie Khatta Meetha (2010).

But due to some unknown reasons Akshay didn’t let the plan to materialise. Though this item song later became quite popular and topped the charts.
