Cab driver Manava Naik

The usage of taxis by frequent travellers has been ritualised for the past five years. People no longer need to use packed buses or railroads to get where they are going. However, excellent services also come with significant responsibilities.

There have been several instances in the past where passengers who chose to travel in taxis like Uber and Ola rather than alternative means of transportation had their journeys wrecked. While the majority of cases are related to the services that the cab company says it offers and what the consumer actually received, many of the stories are terrible in nature.

And it’s not only happening to normal people like us, it’s also happening to celebrities too. A recent example of this is Manava Naik. She shared her horrifying tale on Facebook, which has gone viral. And now, Mumbai Police have also reacted to it. So, let’s find out what actually happened to her:

Actress Manava Naik claims the cab driver misbehaved with her

Manava Naik, a film actress and director, claims that an Uber driver mistreated her and threatened her as she was travelling home in a taxi. The actor, who has appeared in Marathi and Hindi movies, wrote about the event on her Facebook page on Saturday night. On Facebook, she wrote,

Naik’s first-person narrative states that she hired a cab from the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) at around 8:15 p.m. to travel home. While she sat inside the car, she took offence when the cab driver began talking on the phone while he was operating the vehicle.

She noted in her post that the driver had also broken the law by running a red light in the BKC, for which a traffic officer had stopped the taxi and taken a picture of it.

He got into a fight with the traffic officer. The actress then stepped in and requested the traffic cop to let the car go so he could take a picture of it. She then claimed that as a result of what she did earlier, the cab driver became infuriated and yelled at her, demanding that she pay the 500 rupee fine for him and threatening to punish her severely.

The actor told the driver to take the cab to a police station during their disagreement, but the driver halted the car in a shadowy area of the BKC. The driver then increased the speed of the car and started driving in the direction of Priyadarshani Park and Chunabhatti Road.

She made a complaint over the phone to the Uber Safety hotline. She wrote in the article that the driver once more increased the cab speed while the hotline executive was on the call with her.

She claimed that despite her request for the driver to halt, he instead began making calls. She reportedly cried out for assistance out of fear. The cab driver was encircled by two individuals on a motorcycle and an autorickshaw driver, and then she was rescued.
