Bhanwar: This Karanvir Bohra’s Time Travel Drama Promises A Delectable Watch

Published: Updated:

TV actor Karanvir Bohra has donned the director’s hat with his upcoming web series Bhanwar: #SamayKaJaal. The actor who debuted with teen drama Just Mohabbat, has evolved leaps and bounds in his career spanning three decades and has now forayed into direction with his upcoming thriller web series. As the teaser suggests, Bhanwar revolves around the cycle of time and time travel. While it sends out a Dark (Netflix series) vibe, it also excites Indian viewers since it is one of the few times this territory has been explored.

Time Travel: the uncharted territory in Indian web series universe

Bhanwar is an adventurous venture, since no other web or TV series in India has tried to explore the genre of science fiction, let alone something as complicated as time travel. Going by the teaser, the story revolves around a couple who moves into a new apartment only to find out that it has been already inhabited by their own spirits. They find a device which helps them travel into time and change their future.

A remarkable feat during lockdown

Karanvir Bohra managed to shoot for the 8 episodes web series during the lockdown with only 6 people on board including himself. The crew included his wife Teejay Sidhu who is also playing a crucial role in the series, Priya Banerjee, another person from the production team and a cameraman. The entire series has been shot in an apartment with Bohra, Priya Banerjee, Teejay Sidhu and Mantra in lead roles.

Karanvir Bohra’s directorial debut

Karanvir Bohra has been remarkable throughout his journey in television. Known for his coy boy character in Shararat, the actor smoothly transitioned into a manic husband Viraj Dobriyal in Saubhagyavati Bhava. After painting a colourful picture as an actor in the industry, Karanvir Bohra has stepped out of his comfort zone and decided to debut as a director. Talking about his experience as a director, he said,

“Somewhere I became very complacent as an actor, but direction taught me to be a lot more prepared. Directing a project has a lot of small and big aspects to it which need to be thoroughly looked into, and detailing has to be given a lot of prominence.”

Karanvir added,

“From the script to the breakdown of a shot, the correct camera angle, lighting, set design and even the actor’s mood has to all be balanced well. Hence, a director is never at ease because looking over all these nuances requires a lot of time and effort.”

An 8-part binge-worthy series

While daily soaps can be too long to watch, Bhanwar is just an 8-part series. It can be watched in a single seating in one go. The teaser promises a binge-worthy and edge of the seat thriller. By making it a small and limited web series, the makers have piqued even more curiosity among Indian viewers.

Bhanwar is schedule to stream on ZEE5 on August 18. Meanwhile, watch the teaser of Bhanwar and mark your dates for 18 August.
