Although being a multistarrer, this movie saw a phenomenal performance by Hashmi as Shoaib Khan. His role as Shoaib in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai was inspired by the real-life gangster Dawood Ibrahim. He received an award for the Best Supporting Actor at the 56th Filmfare Awards for this movie.
3. Jannat
Another turning point of his career, this movie showcased his versatile performance and won him a lot of critical acclaims. He portrayed the role of a bookie and was appreciated for his ability to act in diverse roles with such ease.
4. Gangster
This role got him his first Filmfare nomination for Best Actor in a Negative Role due to his performance that was totally natural and believable. He made the job look so easy and simple without any unnecessary melodrama.

5. Ek Thi Daayan
Although the movie starred three actresses, Hashmi’s performance was not overshadowed by their roles and stood out on its own. He was lauded for giving that ‘haunted’ feel to his character of a magician with a brilliant performance.
6. Tigers
Hashmi plays the lead protagonist in the movie based on a true story, The movie revolves around the life of a pharmaceutical salesman in Pakistan who works for a baby food manufacturing company. Upon realisation that his company’s products have had adverse effects on the babies and even killed many, he decides to put up a brave fight against the company and the corporate system. The movie received incredibly positive reviews across film festivals worldwide with Emraan’s performance being appreciated.
