Companies Peyush Bansal Started Before Lenskart

Peyush Bansal is the CEO and co-founder of Lenskart and a panelist on the Indian version of Shark Tank. Peyush revealed in an episode that he tried his hand at other enterprises before realizing Lenskart was his true calling. As a result, we began to investigate other businesses founded by Peyush Bansal before Lenskart.

Before starting his company, Peyush Bansal was employed at Microsoft as a Program Manager.

Peyush Bansal didn’t have a project proposal when he returned to India following an 11-month stint at Microsoft. He aspired to be his supervisor and had a hunch that his company would be focused on e-commerce.

A few of the companies which he gave a shot on with are as follows:

1. SearchMyCampus.com

Peyush Bansal founded SearchMyCampus.com back in December 2007 with a seed investment of 25,00,000 rs from his parent and he set up his office in the basement because he had to save up on the rent owing that was a mere startup back then. It was an online resource that assisted college students in resolving typical concerns such as jobs, accommodation, tutoring, textbooks, and transportation. He spent two years on SearchMyCampus.

Valyoo Technologies was created by Peyush Bansal in 2008. Lenskart’s parent business is Valyoo Technologies and technically it is owned by the same man as well.

2. Flyrr

Back in the year 2009, Peyush started Flyrr. This company was mostly towards selling eyewear but in the US market. The borderline was the same as what Lenskart is now, but the time and location were different. Though the idea and business worked out, there were a few hurdles and the biggest one of them was for the team and Peyush to work on the deliveries all together just to above chaos.

And after that, he replicated the idea, but launched it in India and named it Lenskart in the year 2010. This is what Peyish said about Lenksart,

“We want to be the American Express of the eyewear space. They might not be number one but they are better than anyone else.”

3. Watchkart.com

By now you have probably guessed as to what kinda company is this. Well if you go through the pitch Peyush laid off for the last episode of Shark Tank India, he did mention these company domains which he owned and was registered under his name.

This company was mainly for the watch retail through online portal, where they tied up with bigshot companies like Armani, Fossil, etc. The venture was launched in May 2011.

4. Bagskart

Just like the name suggests, Bagskart is the domain where the company tied up with different bag sellers, and that was made into an online portal for people to buy bags online. This was launched under Valyoo Technologies in the year 2011.

After encountering a higher success rate of Lenskart. Peyush decided to solely focus on the one that was hitting the markets. Thus now, here we are, Lenskart being one of the biggest online portals for eye-wear.
