3 minutes read

It is not an uncommon sight to witness a Zomato delivery executive on the road riding a motorcycle, but it becomes a point of interest when a woman is seen doing the same. Recently, a video was posted on X, where a woman is seen wearing a Zomato delivery executive T-shirt riding a bike. The video shared on social media went viral. It was posted saying that it was the idea of the marketing head of Zomato in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. The video also claims to be from Indore’s Vijaynagar.

A man named Rajiv Mehta posted the video on X, formerly Twitter, and claimed that the woman was hired by Zomato’s Indore marketing head

He posted the video claiming that the lady Zomato executive spotted on the road was a model riding the motorcycle with an empty Zomato bag.

After the video went viral, the CEO of the food aggregator Deepinder Goyal issued a clarification

Deepinder Goyal took to his official social media account and denied such claims. He stated that Zomato has nothing to do with this and they do not have any marketing head in Indore. He also expressed that Zomato does not promote helmet-less riding. He sarcastically wrote that someone has been free-riding on their brand.

He also wrote that there is nothing wrong or strange with women delivering food and there are hundreds of women who deliver food for Zomato. He added that those women earn their livelihood by delivering food for Zomato and they are proud of their work ethic.

Deepinder Goyal posted,

Hey! We had absolutely nothing to do with this.

We don’t endorse helmet-less biking. Also, we don’t have a “Indore Marketing Head”.

This seems to be someone just “free-riding” on our brand. Having said that, there’s nothing wrong with women delivering food – we have hundreds of women who deliver food everyday to earn a livelihood for their families, and we are proud of their work ethic.
