Bollywood is all about drama and heartbreaks. One day they are together and another day they are breakup. But there are some stories which ends tragically because fate has something else for them. These stars were madly in love with each other but unfortunately did not end up well.

1. Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt

Madhuri Dixit was among the top actress in Bollywood who held sway over the audience and box-office in the 90s. Meanwhile Sanjay Dutt career has always been surrounded by controversies. When he was at the peak of his career, the infamous TADA arrest happened. Madhuri and Sanjay gave several hits together in the box office and it was rumored that they were going strong in relationship. The couple never commented anything about their relationship but after Sanjay got arrested in 1993, they both went on to say that there was nothing between them.

2. Govinda and Neelam

In 1986 Govinda and Neelam shared the screen for the first time for movie “Ilzaam”. The new pair became an instant hit and became every director’s first choice. Working together in the reel life the couple fall in love in the real life too. Govinda even wanted to get married to Neelam but being a mama’s boy, he had to compromise and Govinda married Sunita, who was his mother’s choice. That was end to Govinda and Neelam love story.

3. Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman

Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman have been the gems in the history of Indian Cinema. Their love story is not less than a Bollywood movie. Dev Anand has clearly mentioned, in his autobiography, Romancing with Life, how he fell in love with Zeenat. There was a incident during premiere of the movie, Ishq Ishq Ishq, Raj Kapoor kissed Zeenat Aman, to which Dev Anand was hurted. And after Zeenat signed Raj Kapoor’s Satyam Shivam Sundaram Dev Anand moved on from the relationship.

4. Nana Patekar and Manisha Koirala

Nepali actress Manisha Koirala was known for her acting skills. Her affair with Nana Patekar came as a surprise as Nana had played the role of her father in the movie, Khamoshi. Nana was a married man when he was dating Manisha. Later on, Manisha wanted Nana divorce to his wife, which did not happen and they broke up.

5. Shekhar Kapoor and Shabana Azmi

At one point of time, Shekhar Kapoor & Shabana Azmi were very much romantically involved into each other. The duo mey, became friends and fell in love with each other. After dating for few years the couple also started living together. After staying together in relationship for seven years they parted away but not on a bad note. Shekhar qnd Shabana are still friends today even though they have moved on in their lives.

6. Dev Anand and Suraiya

It was in the 40’s when Dev Anand met Suraiya. Dev Anand was a budding star at that time and Suraiya was on peak of her singing career and a renowned actress. They slowly fell into love after doing their first movie, Vidya, together. The beautiful relationship went on but in 1949 when the couple decided to get married, Suraiya’s orthodox grandmother revolted. It is said that Suraiya could not take stand for Dev Anand and couldn’t go against her family’s will.

7. Dilip Kumar and Madhubala

The beautiful pairing of Dilip Kumar and Madhubala was one of the most successful on-screen pairs of Indian Cinema. Everybody admired their couple as they were perfect together. The nine year long affair ended due to Dilip Kumar’s differences with Madhubala’s father. Later things became more worse and court case drama happened in the presence of the press and the public.

8. Mahesh Bhatt and Parveen Babi

Parveen Babi was the most glamorous actress of Bollywood in the 70’s. She met Mahesh Bhatt at the peak of her career, and Mahesh was already married at that time. Mahesh was so much in love that he left his wife and started living with Parveen. Things would have been different but due to Parveen’s unstable mental condition the situation got worse. Mahesh tried to help Parveen in every possible way but nothing worked. It can be counted as one of the most tragic love stories of the B-town.

9. Raj Babbar and Smita Patil

Raj Babbar was head over heals in love with the dusky beauty, Smita Patil. They met on the sets of the film, Bheegi Palken (1982) and fell in love. Raj left his family and got married to Smita, but destiny was something else. Smita gave birth to her son in 1986 and suffered from certain childbirth related complications. Sadly Smitha Patil passed away leaving Raj Babbar shattered.
