We always had our mind made up that no antagonist or villain in the TV shows can be as detestable as Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones. But, Arturo from Money Heist defied all the norms to become the most hated fictional character of the television world. Despite the atrocities and hideousness he demonstrated in the season 4 of Money Heist, the audience couldn’t stop talking about him, although in a not-so-favourable way.
For a longest time, people thought Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones is the most wicked human being in the television universe of villains. She was hated for her incestuous relationships with her twin brother Jamie Lannister and for killing hundreds of innocent folks including Ned Stark like nobody’s business.

But now, Cersei stands defeated with the new atrocious villain in sight, Arturo from Money Heist which is played by Enrique Arce. He was annoying from the beginning itself, but the character has earned some generous amount of hatred as the seasons progress.
The fake messiah
First, he wears a cloak of innocence and righteousness to lure women and then he goes on cheating his wife with Monica. The thing he felt for Monica wasn’t even love, because he takes no time to abandon her when he learns that she’s pregnant with his illegitimate child.
Definitely a narcissist
Arturo is certainly a narcissist. He doesn’t give a damn about people’s lives let alone their feelings. He constantly pushes other hostages to take the plunge by inciting a false sense of heroism in them. Even while being at it, Arturo stands unharmed.
Why I am insisting that Arturo is a narcissist is because he ticks all the boxes of symptoms of narcissism.

• Constant need to be admired: Check
• Disregard of other’s feelings: Double Check
• Inability to handle criticism: Oh, yes!
• Sense of Entitlement: Bite me!
Arturo stands undefeated even among the narcissists gathered under one roof. His quest for admiration and lust for women take him too far. He does an absolutely unimaginable act. He takes advantage of a female hostage’s admiration for him by feeding her anxiety pills.
A Hero? A Victim or an Opportunist?
Arturo is an opportunist. He plays the ‘Hero’ and ‘Victim’ card simultaneously to his own advantage. He is a charlatan who can play tricks to turn the audience to his side and so he perfectly did throughout the show.
After watching Money Heist, I would like to have a cup of coffee with Cersei Lannister. After all, she is no longer the most hated antagonist in the history of television. Fans are not wrong demanding Arturo to die in the upcoming season. But remember, it’s his grotesque that got us hooked to the show. Isn’t it?

While the character deserves hatred, certainly, the actor Enrique Arce has done a fantastic job. For the sense of abhorrence he has evoked in us, he stands victorious.
