The Oscar-winning composer shared an emotional note on social media following the announcement, saying that they “hoped to reach the grand thirty”, but their relationship couldn’t carry the weight of “broken hearts”.

While his wife Saira Banu announced her divorce from AR Rahman in a media interaction with India Today, the musical maestro took to his X account and shared that though he wished to reach the grand thirtieth anniversary with his wife, their relationship has met its end. AR Rahman wrote:
“We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”

Saira Banu’s lawyer announced her decision to go separate ways with the singer
In a media statement to India Today, Saira Banu’s lawyer disclosed that Saira made the tough decision to part ways with AR Rahman. The lawyer further added that it was a decision Saira Banu made after enduring significant emotional strain. The lawyer also added that while they are still in love, a huge gap has been created between the two due to the tensions and difficulties they have been through. The statement says:

“After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. A R. Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time.”
The statement concluded with:
“Mrs. Saira emphasised that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life.”
