An angel investor is an investor who provides early financial support to startups or businesses for a share in the business or as a debt. They are referred to as “angels” by businesses as they assist them whenever they were needed the most. A startup collects funding at various stages of its development. It’s known as Round A fundraising when a startup collects cash for the first period; it’s known as Round B funding when they fundraise for the 2nd attempt, and so on.
The term “portfolio company” refers to a set of enterprises in which shareholders have an interest. The portfolio companies are all the businesses in which the shareholders have financed.
