1. English Vinglish (2012)

Adil Hussain was perfect in the character of a spouse who had lost all appreciation for his wife. He was a personality we’d seen far too many times in real life, but he gave it a new vitality, making it relevant without being artificial. And the last sequences, in which he rediscovers his love for his wife, is completely convincing.

2. Maj Rati Keteki (2017)

Adil Hussain, a distinguished author on self-imposed isolation, gave the character the seriousness it needed without depending on the customary mannerisms. He didn’t seem overly solemn or speak in a solemn tone, yet he nevertheless managed to convey the anguish of an author who understands that his recollections contain a past that actuality does not mirror.

3. Love Sonia (2018)

Adil was perfect in the character of a desperate, indebted farmer who was required to sell his daughter just because he had debts to pay. Despite the presence of outstanding performers such as Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee, and others in the film, Adil’s sorrow leaves a lasting effect. In fact, Sonia Adil’s performance in Love demonstrated the importance of remaining faithful to the personality you’re portraying, regardless of the amount of screen time you’re given.

5. Maati (2018)

After giving a stunning performance in Ahare Mon, the iconic reel life pair Paoli Dam and Adil Hussain reunited for the Bengali film Maati. The film follows Meghna as she attempts to piece together her past with the help of Adil Hussain’s soft-spoken Jamil. Adil’s sensitive portrayal of Jamil touches your heart. Adil’s role is created to be extremely pleasant, and he assures that the viewer believes in the character’s sincerity and pleasantness through his acting.

6. Unfreedom (2014)

The title of the film very much matches the plot of it. In a film that failed to wow the viewers in any way, Adil’s appearance was the one saving grace. As the prejudiced dad, he represents a frightening society that, alas, still exists in India, where elders impose the upholding of antiquated, and at times foolish, traditions. Adil gives a terrifyingly believable performance as the rigid, orthodox, and possibly demented father who takes awful ways to ‘correct’ his daughter’s sexual predilection.

7. Ishqiya (2010)

Despite the fact that Adil had been in a number of Assamese films, it was Ishqiya that first brought him to the notice of mainstream moviegoers, and that was indeed something of a huge luck! Only Adil Hussain could have held his own and left a lasting impression with so minimal screen time, having shared screen time with actresses like Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah.

8. Life of Pi (2012)

According to Adil Hussain, the movie is always more essential than his part in it. Nothing exemplifies this better than his performance in Life of Pi. Despite the fact that the film was about Pi and his quest, Adil brought his role as a stern and traditional, single minded, father to life. Adil who acted the role of Santosh Patel was superb in the role.

9. Mukti Bhawan (2016)

Adil portrayed a son who must understand that his dad is pursuing death freely. This is not an easy mindset to have and address yourselves with during any situation, and Adil skillfully showed a reluctant son’s understanding of the situation. Even when expressing anguish and disgust at the situation’s hopelessness, he presented a very dignified performance. This is a performance which shows the raw talent this man holds and is definitely gonna make you cry.
