Simi Garewal’s Love Life, From Having An Affair With A Maharaja To Being In Love With Ratan Tata

On 17th October, veteran actress Simi Garewal celebrated her 75th birthday. This 90s queen is still revered for her sheer elegance and sophistication. Simi rose to fame and the pinnacle of her career because of films like Mera Naam Joker, Karz, and Chalte Chalte.

Although the actress is well-known for her marvelous acting and super-hit films her personal life was no such secret. Simi has had a colorful love life and it never failed to make the headlines. Today, we are going to talk about the same.

1. Passionate affair with Maharaja of Jamnagar

At the age of seventeen, Simi Garewal had her first love affair. She was in love with a well-renowned Maharaja of Jamnagar. Apparently, both of them were neighbors back in those days. Simi opened up about her affair where she mentioned her affair with the Maharaja lasted for 3 years. However, it did not last as the obsessiveness took a toll on their relationship. In an interview with Filmfare, she revealed as we quote,

“At 17, I fell in love with my neighbor – the Maharaja of Jamnagar. It was a turbulent and passionate affair that lasted for three years. He showed me a wonderful world of animals, sports, and food. Of passion and compassion… we did mad, crazy things but it grew obsessive. I look back at it now with a smile. But I realized what possessiveness could do to a relationship. It cured me forever of jealousy in love.”

2. Failed affair with Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi

Cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan is another well-known personality who had a love association with Simi Garewal. This duo was madly in love with one another. They were always spotted together. Fans were so sure that they are meant to be together however destiny had some other plans.

Way before Mansoor Ali Khan could make Simi meet his parents he met his real love of life, Sharmila Tagore. As soon as Tiger Pataudi realized it is Sharmila who is the one for him the came clean to Simi Garewal. If reports are to be believed Tiger went to her place and confessed

“I’m sorry, but I want to make it clear it is over between us; I’ve met someone else.”

The rupture of their relationship was indeed an awkward one however, being her poised self Simi accepted the unfortunate ending of their affair.

3. An affair with the business tycoon Ratan Tata

The next prominent man with whom Simi Garewal had an association is none other than Ratan Tata. She had a beautiful past with this famous industrialist. Their old rendezvous is a very famous one. Actress Simi Garewal always saw Ratan Tata as a perfectionist. In her eyes, money was never a driving force for Mr. Tata. Once Simi said as we quote,

“Ratan and I go back a long way. He’s perfection, he’s got a sense of humor, is modest, and is the perfect gentleman. Money was never his driving force. He’s not as relaxed in India as he is abroad.”

4. An unsuccessful marriage with Ravi Mohan

Back in 1970, Simi Garewal tied knots into the Delhi-based Chunnamal family. Before marrying Ravi Mohan they had a brief dating phase. After knowing one another for just 3 months they decided to wed. Their marriage was for almost 10 years however this long-distance marriage did not work out in the end. None of them realized when they fell out of love. Talking about her marriage Simi once shared,

“I got married at 27, within three months of knowing my ex-husband long-distance. I knew the moment I’d done it, it won’t work. We were two very different people. And this idea of women having to leave their home and work just because they got married is really unfair.”

She also said how both of them were not meant for one another,

“We were two nice people but not made for each other. It was a long-distance marriage. We started living apart more and more but divorced over a decade later. The good thing is that there was never any ill will. I’m close to his family even now.”
