Sanju Samson was born on November 11th, 1994, in Pulluvila. He spent his childhood in Delhi. However, his family later shifted to Thiruvananthapuram. He is the son of a Malayali Christian family that has greatly influenced his career and personality as well.
His father’s name is Samson Viswanath, who used to be a police constable in the Delhi Police. Sanju’s mother, Ligy Viswanath, is a homemaker. The cricket player is also very close to his elder brother, named Saly Samson, who is also a cricket player at the junior level.

Samson Viswanath is a retired police officer who worked for the Delhi Police Force. He has been instrumental in the development of Sanju Samson’s cricketing career. In 2006, when his son Sanju failed to make it to the Delhi Under-13 team at the age of 12, he took voluntary retirement from his secure government job. He has represented Kerala in various age groups, such as the U-16, U-19, and U-23 cricket teams.
However, while Sanju reached the international arena, the career of Saly was adversely affected due to shoulder injuries and surgeries that lasted for about 4-5 years. Sanju Samson’s wife, Charulatha Remesh, also played an important role in his cricketing journey. The couple met each other while both were pursuing their studies at Mar Ivanios College in Thiruvananthapuram. According to reports, the couple’s relationship began when Sanju sent Charulatha a friend request on Facebook during their college days. The couple had a private relationship for about 5 years before making their relationship official.
On December 22, 2018, the couple got married in a private ceremony at a resort in Kovalam, Kerala. The wedding was registered under the Special Marriage Act, considering that Sanju is a Christian and Charulatha is a Hindu Nair.
