When Will 5G be Available in India

Have you recently upgraded your smartphone to a newer model? If so, you might have noticed that it is now capable of working with 5G wireless connectivity. This is great news in terms of download speeds and streaming options. The only problem is that 5G is not yet available in India. When we take into account that other major metropolitan areas such as New York and London can already access the form of communication, we are left wondering when it will be offered to Indian clients. Let us take a look at what regional suppliers are doing to prepare for this service as well as when it might be realistically available to clients who live in more urbanised areas.

Why the delay?

It is first crucial to mention that 4G wireless connectivity was only implemented throughout India in 2016 and this network took some time to complete. One of the main issues is the sheer size of India. There are countless districts which all wish to be connected to the Internet and naturally, some areas (such as metropolitan areas) have taken precedence over others.

The second main point involves the fact that telecommunications firms such as Airtel and Reliance Jio have already begun applying to the government in order to be approved for preliminary 5G field trials. The only possible issue is that approvals can take a fair amount of time and even these trials are likely to be limited to the more populated regions of India.

When we take all of these factors into account, it becomes clear that 5G will not appear overnight. According to recent estimates, it is expected to be available sometime during the latter half of 2021 (although nothing is for certain).

What can clients expect in the near future?

Good things are worth the wait. This is important to keep in mind if you are eager to finally obtain 5G access. Not only will you be able to speak with friends and family with a greater degree of reliability.

5G also opens up a world of possibilities in terms of digital media. This has become a popular pastime throughout India and thanks to 5G speeds, streaming the latest Bollywood films should not present an issue. The same holds true in regards to video-sharing sites and well-known portals such as YouTube and Vimeo.

Although 5G has yet to make its presence known throughout India, Chinese engineers have already begun to think one step ahead. The Chinese government has recently launched a satellite that is capable of hosting 6G wireless services; the first of its kind. It is therefore clear that global technology is continuing to evolve at a truly amazing pace.

Patience is indeed a virtue when referring to your ability to access 5G wireless connectivity. The good news is that this technology should be here sooner than you may have initially thought.
