There were some Bollywood movies that were unexpected hits at the box office. These movies were estimated to be flops. Many criticized the plot of the movies as they were different but they turned out to be great after their release.

1. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety

The talented cast from Pyaar Ka Punchnama was featured in this movie. Kartik Aaryan and his costars acted very well in the movie. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety made ₹152.75 crores. A sensational movie with a unique plot and a lot of comedy in it.

2. Stree

With a whopping ₹252 crores at the box office, Tanu Weds Manu Returns as well as the first installment of the movie was a blockbuster. The movie budget was ₹39 crores and it made a huge profit.

4. Kabir Singh

Despite the negative comments, the movie was a blockbuster hit for Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. People expected it to be a flop as it was a remake of the Telugu version of Arjun Reddy. Kabir Singh made ₹383.02 crores and was a successful movie at the box office.

5. Aashiqui 2

Aditya Roy Kapur and Shradhha Kapoor’s Aashiqui 2 was very successful movie at the box office. The movie crossed people’s expectations and was one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films in 2013. Aashiqui 2 made ₹1.09 billion at the box office. The movie’s budget was ₹180 million.

6. Andhadhun

One of the very confusing movies, Ayushman Khurrana’s Andhadhun is a story about a blind pianist who involves himself in a murder. The movie’s budget was ₹32 crores and it made ₹456 crores which is a considerable profit.

With the tagline How’s The Josh? Uri is a brilliant real-life-based movie. Starring Vicky Kaushal, the film made the Indians proud. Making ₹342 crores with a budget of ₹25 crores was a huge accomplishment.

10. Kahaani

With a lot of twists and turns, Kahaani is one of the best thriller movies in Bollywood. Starring Vidya Balan, Kahaani was made on a budget of ₹80 million but made almost ₹1.04 billion at the box office being one of the highest grossing Bollywood films.

11. The Dirty Picture

The title has no connection to the movie, it’s a heads up. The biopic or real-life story of Silk Smitha, a South Indian actress who was well known for her erotic performances. The budget was ₹180 million but it made ₹1.17 billion at the box office. The main part of this movie is Vidya Balan’s acting and songs.
