As India pushes toward digital and economic expansion, people around the world are also witnessing an increasing trend toward white-collar corporate jobs. Companies TCS and Infosys, and Mahindra, become some of the leading job providers in the corporate sector. Although these jobs seem more feasible and come with many benefits, years of stagnant growth were caused by inflation and rising real estate prices. Managing professional demands while dealing with financial instability, long hours, job uncertainty, and urban isolation can have a significant negative impact on young professionals’ mental health.
Even though company social media may highlight benefits like work-from-home and team meals, internal processes frequently lack empathy. Something similar to this recently happened with a TCS employee who went viral for sleeping outside the office. After his story went viral, the company also reacted.

The TCS employee slept outside the office due to having no money
Recently, a TCS employee named Saurabh More went viral on social media for starting to sleep outside his office in Pune. According to him, he did this because he had no money, as the company hadn’t paid him his salary. In the pictures, he was seen sleeping in his sleeping bag along with a handwritten pamphlet that said,

I have reported back to TCS office, Sahyadri Park, Pune office on 19th July 2025, and still my ID is not active on Ultimatix and TSC systems, and I haven’t received my salary, which was confirmed on 30th July 2025 meeting stating “I hope you receive your salary on 31st July 2025” during the meeting. I have informed HR I don’t have money and will be forced to sleep and live outside TCSÂ on footpath. HR has not responded to that and kept quiet. Hence, I am living on footpath since 29th July 2025, in front of TCS office. – Sourabh More
How did TCS react to the incident?
As Sourabh and his story went viral on social media, his company also reacted to the allegations he leveled against them. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, TCS stated that in accordance with company policy, Sourabh More’s salary payment was temporarily halted after he allegedly took an “unauthorized” absence from work.

This is a case of unauthorized absence where the employee has been absent from the office. In accordance with standard procedure, payroll was suspended during this period. The employee has now reported back and requested reinstatement. We have provided him with accommodation for now and are supporting him in addressing his situation in a fair and constructive manner.
How did netizens react to the whole matter?
While looking at TCS’s official statement, it seems that everything between Sourabh and them has cooled down; netizens are still debating about this. Many netizens took Sourabh’s side, saying that stopping the salary is inhumane, and others expressed dismay over his unprofessional and casual behavior in the office.

Meanwhile, this is not the first incident of its kind. Every day, these kinds of incidents happen. However, not all incidents get such attention for various reasons. In some cases, the company was clear, while in some cases, it was clearly the employee’s fault.
This case seems to me to be a mix of both. On one hand, the company should not have stopped the salary of any employee suddenly; on the other hand, the employee should have calmly told the company why he took leave and that it was necessary to take leave, because we all know that this is not the way things work in corporate. Every place has its own set of rules and regulations. If someone is hiring you, then it is also your responsibility to do their work responsibly.
