Swiggy scam

Unquestionably, the rise of meal delivery apps has completely changed how people see convenience in our day-to-day lives. These platforms provide a convenient option for times when you don’t want to cook in your kitchen. For many people, being able to order meals online and have them delivered right to their doorstep has become a time-saving amenity.

Though these applications have received a lot of positive feedback, there have been sporadic reports of less-than-perfect encounters. Similarly, a lady recently found herself in the middle of an odd interaction with a well-known meal delivery service, Swiggy. The interaction was so awkward that she didn’t think twice about sharing her experience by creating a social media video.

The video about Swiggy’s new scam went viral on social media

In a viral video circulating on the internet, a woman named Swati Mukund exposes what she describes as an “amazing scam in the Swiggy market.” The caption of her video said,

“@swiggyindia not cool at all! This has happened with me and a couple of others I know, and this isn’t what I expected of you. Honestly. I’ve been a user and a regular one at that, but I guess serving customers food or good service isn’t on your menu anymore. And I paid 150 rupees for delivery for a 1.8 km distance.”

Swati begins the video and goes on to describe the whole situation when she recently placed an order using Swiggy. She claimed that she ordered on Swiggy at 8:20. Additionally, according to the app’s regular routine, the money was taken out within a minute. Swiggy had guaranteed a 30-minute delivery window.

However, as nine o’clock rolled around, her food was still nowhere to be delivered. Upon getting irritated, she called Swiggy’s customer service. Furious that her meal pickup had not been started, she asked to have her order canceled.

She was shocked to learn that, despite her system indicating that the purchase was placed at 8:20, the app’s customer support agents’ records showed that the order was processed at 8:40. They thus assured her that the order would arrive by 9:10, which put her in a difficult situation.

Adding to her dissatisfaction, she revealed that the app’s administrators were unwilling to provide a refund or cancel the order. In the video’s caption, shared on Instagram, Swati disclosed that she spoke with a senior representative of Swiggy. They purportedly promised her that improved staff training would ensure that neither she nor any other customer would experience something similar in the future.
