Sunil Shetty, one of the very well-known names in Bollywood. Some of his famous films include Hera Pheri (the whole series), Main Hoon Na, Border (1997), etc. Besides being one of the finest actors in Bollywood, he also appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi films as well.
Speaking of his personal life, the actor is married to Mana Shetty, who apparently is his long-time girlfriend. Not only that, but the fact is, their love story is very rare and uncommon when it comes to Bollywood, which makes it even more special.

Sunil Shetty used to go to a place called Pastry Palace on Napean Sea road, to visit his friends. That was the first time Sunil saw Mana and was absolutely awestruck looking at her grace and beauty.
Just like we’d expect any love struck guy to make a move, Sunila did exactly that. He approached Mana’s sister and tried to make her set them up somehow. Fortunately, like a good sister, she did not hesitate in doing so.
After meeting a few more times, Sunil was sure it wasn’t just a mere infatuation, he realized that she’s the one for him. Sunil asked their common friend to organize a party and to invite Mana over to that as well (such a Ted and Robin movie).

The first meet and bike ride
After the party, they went for a bike ride, and that’s when the love birds realized they were very much into each other. Henceforth they decided to love things forward and started to take the connection seriously.
Cultural hurdles and difficulties in relationship
Though the beginning of the story may seem very smooth sailing and something we’d all wish for to happen to us as well. But apparently, that is not the case, they did go through a lot of family problems when it came down to their families accepting their relationship.

They both had very different cultural and religious backgrounds. Mana was the daughter of Gujrati Muslim (father) and Punjabi Hindu (mother). On the other hand, Sunil belonged to a Tulu-speaking family from Karnataka.
When they informed their families about their relationship, it was a big denial from both the families. However they did not give up, it took the families nine years to agree to their relationship and accept their marriage.

Suniel Shetty and Mana Shetty got married on the 25th of December 1991. The fun fact is, Sunil debuted in Bollywood after his marriage, well, maybe she was lucky for him.
Mana said, “Our wedding was fun, it was a ten-day function!” When she was asked about the same. Obviously, the wedding would’ve been an event since they were in love for nine long years!

30 years long successful relationship
Unlike most of the relationships, their love did not fade out even today. Every year on their anniversary Sunil chooses a new spot for them to visit and celebrate.
Obviously, it’s pretty impossible for a marriage aging over 30 years to stay the same, all love, heart, and chocolates always. Thus, Mana did give some great tips which she felt learned from their relationship.
Doing things together is a great way to stay together in a marriage, literally and in spirit. She also said,
“It is important to stay exciting to each other, in the way you look, in some amount of independence that you retain, without being an appendage to your spouse.”
Even though Mana is the wife of a superstar, she also is an entrepreneur, social worker, mother to their children, Ahan and Athiya Shetty, and a terrific wife.

Balance between love and work
As we’re well aware of the fact that they are a working couple and that apparently is somewhat difficult when it comes to handling relationships. When Sunil was asked about the third-party temptations he faced in Bollywood, he did not hesitate before answering,
“You have to decide whether the temptation or momentary dalliance is worth all that you lose for the irresponsibility.”
Suniel has always been quite comfortable with media, being a married man when he joined the entertainment industry. He never shied away from flaunting his wife and family.

Sunil and Mana are parents to two kids, Ahitya Shetty (5th November 1992) and Ahan Shetty (15th January 1996.) Little moments to cherish
As mentioned earlier, their marriage has crossed more than 30 years now. But there are definitely moments where they portray each other to be the perfect couple.
There was a time, a few years back, when Sunil was shooting for a reality show, India’s Asli Champion…Hai Dum! He started missing his family. As he was away from this family for too long. It wasn’t long he said that, and Mana quickly came over to the venue to spend some quality time with him.
When their crew members were asked about their relationship, they couldn’t help but praise the couple.

Not only that, the couple still look adorable and high school sweethearts, completely head over heels for each other.
When Mana was asked about the secret behind their evergreen relationship, she replied,
“I believe that proper communication is the key for any relationship to last. You and your partner need to share everything and be aware of each other all the time. Being a good listener is extremely important. Listening to your partner without being judgemental is important for any relationship to survive. Trust and mutual respect for your partner can make your relationship go a long way.”
