Star Kids Who Won Bollywood Debut Awards Beating Outsiders Over The Years

The sudden demise of Sushanth Singh Rajput has forced everyone to ponder about nepotism. But does nepotism exist for award ceremonies too? Do the start kids get preference in the famous award shows like Film fare award?

Here is a list of actors who have received Filmfare Best Debut Awards over the years, let’s have a look!

1. Ananya Pandey won Best Female Debut for Student Of The Year 2

Chunky Pandey’s daughter Ananya Pandey won the award for the best female debut for the Student Of The Year 2 in 2020. In the same way, Dassani, the son of Bhagyasree, bagged the award of best male appearance for his film Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota. Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vishal Jethwa fail to win the awards as they were outsiders.

In the same year, Tara Sutaria also made her debut with SOTY 2, and Ankita Lokhande made her debut with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, but they failed to win the award.

2. Sara Ali Khan won Best Female Debut for Kedarnath

The beautiful daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh won the best female debut for Kedarnath in the year 2018.

In the same year, even Radhika Madan made her debut with Pataakha, and Gitanjali Rao made it with October. However, they both failed to bag the award, and Sara Ali Khan got the advantage of being a star kid.

3. Sooraj Pancholi won Best Male Debut for Hero

Suraj Pancholi bagged the best Male debut for Hero in 2015.

However, in the same year, Vicky Kaushal made his debut with Masaan, but he failed to bag the award despite his impeccable acting skills.

4. Sonakshi Sinha won Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for Dabangg

Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter had won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for Dabangg in the year 2010.

In the same year, Amrita Puri debuted in Aisha, and National Award-winning actress Priyamani in Raavan. However, they both failed to bag the award. Maybe being a star kid proved advantageous for Sonakshi.

5. Esha Deol won Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe

Hema Malini’s daughter has won the award for Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe in 2003.

In the same year, Konkona Sen Sharma made her debut with Mr. and Mrs. Iyer. She even won the National Award for the same. Still, she failed to win the best female debut award. Gauri Karnik also made her movie debut with Sur, but she was not recognized in the Filmfare award.

6. Tusshar Kapoor won Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai

Jitendra’s son, Tusshar Kapoor had won the award for Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai in the year 2002 against R. Madhavan, who had made his debut in Rehnaa hai Terre Dil Mein.

Although RHTDM made a massive success in the box office and Madhavan won several accolades for her acting skills, he still failed to win the Film fare awards.

7. Kareena Kapoor won Filmfare award for Best Female Debut for Refugee

The sister of Karishma Kapoor won the Filmfare award for Best Female Debut in 2000 for her debut in Refugee.

At the same time, even Ameesha Patel had debuted in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. Although Ameesha Patel had won several accolades for the role, she failed to bag the Filmfare award. Being a descendant of the Kapoor family had proven beneficial for Kareena to win the award.

8. Twinkle Khanna won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for Barsaat

Rajesh Khanna’s beloved daughter Twinkle Khanna won the Filmfare award for Barsaat in 1996. This was unexpected as Filmfare had not awarded the best female debut three times between 1990 to 2020.

9. In the same tenure betwen 1990 to 2020, Filmfare has not awarded the Male Best Debut award six times

However, an exception was made in 1996 when Bobby Deol won the award for Barsaat, and Fardeen Khan won it for Prem Aggan in 1999.

If you carefully examine the history of Film fare Debut Awards, you can notice that out of the thirty female winners; nineteen were outsiders. Amongst the men, only five outsiders won out of twenty-seven.
