Star-kids have been on the receiving end of incessant trolls ever since the de#th of Sushant Singh Rajput raised important questions on nepotism and Bollywood elites behavior towards ‘outsiders’. Past videos have resurfaced online where many actors have been seen under appreciating and mocking him which led many to realise that the Hindi Film Industry has a darker side.
One of such videos was of Sonam Kapoor on the sets of ‘Koffee With Karan’ where she denied knowing who SSR even was. This led to many people trolling her and some even slammed her for being Anil Kapoor’s daughter – an identity without which she wouldn’t have made it to the film industry.

This is some of comments coming my way. All the media and all the people who’ve encouraged this sort of behaviour and instigated it. This is on you. People talking about how one should have been kind to someone are doing worse to others. pic.twitter.com/6rH4LSBOxp

Responding to people online, Sonam Kapoor tweeted saying how she was proud to be Anil Kapoor’s daughter. The actress wrote,
“Today on Father’s Day id like to say one more thing, yes I’m my fathers daughter and yes I am here because of him and yes I’m privileged. That’s not an insult, my father has worked very hard to give me all of this. And it is my karma where I’m born and to whom I’m born. I’m proud.”

Sonam’s response didn’t go down well with the netizens.

Yes, if anything… previlage comes with more responsibility

Its such a revolting, arrogant and elitist tweet. Sonam is justifying systemic structures of oppression and inequality within society & attributing it all to ‘karma’. Essentially Sonam’s though pattern is that poor deserve to be poor & that the rich are deserving.

Why did this go from sweet to demeaning so fast? Happy for you that you were born with that privilege, but what is “my karma”? So others had “bad karma” to have been born without money & privilege? Wtf

The problem is not about you being proud daughter of a respected man. The problem is lobbying in the industry, knowingly or unknowingly, where media plays a huge role as well and to some extent the audience too. We make poor choices sometimes and choose name over talent..sorry

That’s the difference between thinking of literate and illiterate #SonamKapoor saying proudly she is privileged& It’s karma where she’s born.
Where US first daughter Sasha Obama is working at a restaurant during her summer break is inspiring.

It’s not anyone’s ‘Karma’ or past life goodwill to be born where they are born. It’s nobody’s right to be privileged, some people just are. Do you think people who are born in underprivileged houses have done something wrong to deserve that?

#SonamKapoor‘s latest tweet is stupid and naive at best while insensitive and super-entitled at worst! Justifying own privileged life with her non-exsiting “Good Karma” is horrible and too low for any human being. And please, oh please, correct your grammar, you dropout fucks!😡 pic.twitter.com/VocV69ivZB
