Raveena Tandon Responds When Asked If She Would Be Okay With Daughter Rasha Doing Kissing Scenes In Films

Actress Raveena Tandon stands as a legend in Indian cinema. Her journey began with the 1991 release Patthar Ke Phool, which left an enduring impact on the audiences. However, it was the sensuous Tip Tip Barsa Pani dance in Mohra (1994) that catapulted her to stardom. Additionally, subsequent hits like Andaz Apna Apna (1994) and Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996) solidified her position as an unmatched Bollywood diva.

However, despite being one of the most successful actresses of the 1990s, Raveena has a “no-kissing policy.” She even refused to kiss Akshay Kumar during iconic Tip Tip Barsa Pani dance in Mohra.

Surprisingly, she recently opened up about it and disclosed it was the result of a disturbing occurrence on a movie set. She frankly described how an unintentional lip-bump with a male co-actor left her queasy to the point of puking in her room. Speaking about the incident, she said,

“I remember I was doing a little rough handling scene with a male actor and I remember by mistake his lips just brushed my lips. It was by mistake, it was not even required. Like in that whole frenzy, it was a mistake. I went to my room and threw up because I was so not comfortable. The shot got over and I went up and I had nausea. I could not bear it. I was like ‘yuck no. Please brush your teeth, wash your mouth a hundred times’.”

The National Award-winning actress spoke candidly about the incident in an interview with Lehren Retro. She recalls the male actor who played the villain of the movie apologizing for the unintended error. However, when questioned about her thoughts about her daughter kissing on-screen, Raveena gave a clever response.

In response to queries about her daughter Rasha Thadani, Raveena Tandon expressed a pragmatic viewpoint. The Mohra actress emphasized the importance of comfort and personal choice in the industry. She conveyed that if Rasha feels at ease performing kissing scenes with a co-star, it’s a matter of her comfort.

However, Raveena firmly asserted that no one should wield the authority to compel her daughter or any actor to engage in anything they are not comfortable with. Speaking to Lehran Retro, she said,

“Again it depends. If she is comfortable doing it with someone, then why not. If she is not comfortable, nobody should have the power to force her to do anything that she does not want to do.”

On a professional front, Raveena Tandon recently appeared as Ramika Sen in the Kannada movie K.G.F: Chapter 2. She also featured in the 2023 release One Friday Night as Lata Verma. In the much-awaited Ghudchadi, Raveena is now ready to wow fans as Roma Virodhi Chaudhary. Later this year, the new film is slated for release.
