Railway Official Replies After Picture Shows Passenger With Feet On Snack Tray In Vande Bharat Train

Every now and then some new happening keeps on happening in the railways. Be it some dance enthusiast dancing and making reels or some hot-headed person engaging in a fight, the railway is one entertaining mode of transportation. However, this recent happening is something that sheds light on our responsibilities towards railway property.

Taking care of public property and using them wisely is a basic human decency. However, many times people forget to maintain such decency. Recently, a passenger was traveling via the Chennai Vande Bharat where he did something similar. Well, as the picture of this incident goes viral one can witness that the man was dozing off while he put his feet on the train’s snack tray. To say that this picture immediately went viral as the man received a lot of backlash would be a sheer understatement.

The picture was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by a username named @NammaCoimbatore. He shared the picture by writing a very appropriate caption that read as we quote,

“#CBE- Chennai Vande Bharat Such actions are not only disrespectful but also set a negative example for wider community. Placing one’s feet on surfaces designated for dining is unsanitary and exhibits a lack of basic etiquette.”

A lot of people were triggered by the sight of his bare feet on the tray meant for serving refreshments to passengers. For all the right reasons? Indeed for all the right reasons.

Without taking much time Ananth Rupanagudi, chief project manager at Indian Railways, responded to the picture with an appeal to all passengers.

Ananth Rupanagudi is known for giving a prompt response whenever situations like this arise. Not long ago he pointed out another frequent misbehavior on trains: parents placing their children on snack trays. According to him, this is the primary cause of tray breakage.

Responding to this latest misbehavior he responded by appealing to the passengers that it is important to be responsible towards fittings and basically railway property. He basically wrote as we quote,

“Please use the fittings for the purpose they are meant for. They have been created for you with your money and hence you have a responsibility towards those fittings. And these trains are built at a considerable cost. Please travel responsibly. #VandeBharat“
