You will be surprised to note that Sachin Tendulkar scored a remarkable 2,278 runs in 45 matches during his career. In comparison, Virat Kohli, the highest-scoring active player, has accumulated just 1,030 runs. Seems more than just tough for him to surpass Sachin!

2. Double Hat-Trick – Lasith Malinga

Double Hat-Trick? Is it even possible? Ask legend Lasith Malinga! Lasith Malinga’s achievement in the World Cup history appears nearly unbeatable. The reason is that he stands alone as the only bowler in ODI World Cup history to dismiss four batters consecutively with four consecutive deliveries.

3. Most Centuries In One Edition – Rohit Sharma

4. Most Matches – Ricky Ponting

Amongst the active players, Virat Kohli is the one who is on top for making 26 World Cup match appearances. However, the one who holds the record of appearing in most matches is none other than Ricky Ponting! This former captain of Australia holds the record with 46 appearances in World Cup matches.

5. Youngest Captain To Win World Cup – Kapil Dev

1983 was a historic year for India. Not just because India won the WC title for the very first time but because it was also under the leadership of the world’s youngest captain. At just 24 years old, Kapil Dev led India to victory in the 1983 World Cup, making him the youngest captain ever to win the prestigious trophy.

6. Longest Victory Streak – Australia

From 1999 to 2011, Australia enjoyed an impressive unbeaten run of 34 matches. It is worth noting that the country has a record of 32 victories, one tied match, and one game that had to be abandoned.

7. Most Consecutive Centuries – Kumar Sangakkara

Kumar Sangakkara who hails from Sri Lanka was one legendary cricketer. He achieved a remarkable feat during the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia by scoring four consecutive centuries. Interestingly, only two batsmen in ODI history have managed to achieve this feat.

8. Most World Cup Participation – Sachin Tendulkar and Javed Miandad

Indian and Pakistani legends Sachin Tendulkar and Javed Miandad hold the record for most WC participation. They have played in six different ODI World Cups each. If we talk about the record of current players, Virat Kohli is on top who will play his fourth World Cup, this year.

9. Most World Cup Titles – Australia

It’s evident that Australia, with the longest victory streak, also boasts the most World Cup titles. They claimed the World Cup championship in the years 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015.

10. Most runs in one edition – Sachin Tendulkar

Seems like Sachin Tendulkar has been a star in the WC series and very rightly so! He secured the first spot for most runs in one edition with a total of 673 runs during the 2003 ODI World Cup. Back in 2007, Matthew Hayden came close to beating this but fell short as he amassed 659 runs. So goes for Rohit Sharma who notched up 648 runs in 2019.
