A recent incident created havoc on the internet when a consumer posted a video of a worm-infested chocolate bar on social media platform X (previously Twitter). The video of the infested Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar stunned people online. The official page of Cadbury Dairy Milk also responded to the post.
A man found a Crawling worm in a Cadbury chocolate bar that he bought at a metro station in Hyderabad
On February 9, a man named Robin Zaccheus bought a Dairy Milk chocolate bar from a store at Ameerpet metro station in Hyderabad. After unwrapping the chocolate he was stunned to see a worm crawling on the chocolate. He posted a video of the worm-infested chocolate bar, along with the bill for the purchased product from the store named Ratnadeep Retail.

The man expressed his distress over the incident on X, he wrote,

He ended his post by tagging several relevant people and organizations. Since being posted online, it has collected more than 100,000 views. The disturbing incident has triggered questions about product quality checks among social media users and the post has been flooded with several comments.

The viral post also reached the Cadbury official and this is how they responded
The official page of Cadbury Dairy Milk responded to Zaccheus’s post on X and requested him to provide more information for them to address his situation.

The chocolate company responded with a standardized reply in the comments section. They apologized for Robin’s “unpleasant experience” and conveyed that they always try to “maintain the highest quality standards”. The company posted,

Looks like this chocolate didn’t had double wrapping. The reason why dairy milk is double wrapped (golden foil + white paper wrap) is to avoid worms get inside.

Thoda fake sa lag rha hai. Who takes and keeps bill of a chocolate. And who opens a chocolate bar packing like this. Such smooth clean cut on top. The worm is not inside the bar. Its sitting on it. As if kept there.

I had the same experience some 20 yrs ago with the Cadbury’s Fruit and Nut bar. I wrote to them and they sent their staff 2 meet me. He told me the issue is due to the worm larve in the fruits that they use, which is difficult to remove fully (1/2)
