Not always do we care about the background of our idols and the people we’re used to seeing on the television screen. We tend to believe, since the beginning of their careers they have been leading a flourishing life. But it’s not always the case. Some of our Bollywood favorites did do some real “struggle” unlike we know who.
Here’s the lesser known story of choreographer and dancer Remo D’Souza. The story of him turning to Remo from, Ramesh Yadav.
Family and history
Ramesh was born in a family in Bangalore. His father used to work as the chef of the Indian Air Force. Being so poor, there were times where couldn’t even support their survival.
While studying in Gujarat, Remo felt the pull towards dance. Before his HSC, he allegedly ran off to Mumbai to follow his dreams. Take a chance in the huge industry.
Though his father wanted him to join the Indian Air Force. Remo realizes he did not have much interest in studying. The only thing he was very passionate about was dance. He learned dancing from various films we watched.
The sleepless nights
He was a self-learned dancer and used to consider Micheal Jackson as his teacher. He used to learn steps from videos of Jackson and edited that with something of his own.
The path wasn’t very smooth though. Since we all know, being in a good position in the industry is difficult. During his early days, he couldn’t afford a living. So he had to take side jobs like cycle mechanic, selling groceries, etc.
The non-availability of money affected Remo really badly. There were nights where he slept in the railway station empty stomach.
Marriage and children
In Mumbai, he fell in love with a girl named Lizelle and they got married. She used to work on a television report showed. Though his financial instability was a problem, she never left his side. They both are very happy with their children, Dhruv and Gabriel.
With time Remo rose to fame and got the life he deserved
Remo was once a background dancer and he can be seen in the song Zara Tasveer Se Tu from SRK’s film Pardes.
He worked with many Bollywood stars, now his net worth estimates, 50crs INR.
Not only did he stick to only dancing, but he also expanded and tried his luck in directing films as well. His first film, ABCD received a huge response from the box office making it a huge hit. Later he tied up and got all suited up for the launch of the sequel of the same, ABCD 2 starring Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. Which also received a very good response from the crowd.
In 2020 December, Remo was admitted to the hospital due to a heart attack. His wife, as usual, took great care of him and took him back in the house in the best of health.
Currently, we do see Remo working as a supporting actor in many films with recognized Bollywood faces.
