1. Sameer Anjaan- Most prolific Bollywood lyricist ever
He is a renowned lyricist and made the Guinness Book of World record for being the most prolific Bollywood lyricist ever. The lyricist had composed 3,524 songs as of 15 December, 2015. Some of his popular songs include Jab Se Tere Naina (Saawariya), Tum Paas Aaye (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) and Nazar Ke Saamne (Aashiqui).
2. Asha Bhosle- Most recorded artist in music history
This popular singer has given many songs to Bollywood. Some of her popular songs include Dum Maro Dum (Hare Rama Hare Krishna), Piya Tu Ab To Aaja (Caravan) and Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko (Yaadon Ki Baraat).
He made Guinness Book of World record for the most recorded artist in music history in 2011. Sister of ‘Nightingale of Bollywood’, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle has recorded up to 11000 solo, duets and chorus backed songs and several others in more than 20 Indian languages since 1947.
3. Kumar Sanu- Recorded maximum number of songs in a day
Kumar Sanu has given Bollywood many popular songs. He was considered as one of the most popular singers of the 90s. Some of his popular songs include like Tujhe Dekha Toh (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge), Ek Ladki Ko Dekha (1942: A Love Story) and Do Dil Mil Rahe Hain (Pardes).
He made Guinness World Records in 1993 for recording the maximum number of songs in a day. He reportedly recorded 28 songs in a single day.
4. Kapoors- Largest on-screen family of Bollywood
It is common for the children to follow their parents and family, and it is common for the star kids to enter Bollywood by following their parent’s footsteps. Twenty-four members of the Kapoor family have acted in Bollywood films since Prithviraj Kapoor first appeared on the big screen in 1929. For this reason, the Kapoor family made the record book since 1999.
5. Baahubali: The Beginning– World’s largest poster
Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning made the Guinness World Record for making the largest poster of more than 50,000 sqft. The poster has an area of 4,793.65 m² (51,598.21 ft²)
6. Jagdish Raj- The most typecast actor
This veteran actor made the world record for being the most typecast actor. He played the role of a police inspector in 144 movies. Some of the popular films where he acted include Deewar, Don, Shakti and Silsila.
7. Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai– The most number of awards for a movie
The superhit block blaster and the debut film of Hritik Roshan won a total of 92 awards. It made entry into 2002 Guinness Book of World records for having the most number of awards for a movie.
8. Yaadein (1964)- Fewest actors in a narrative film
The 1964 Yaadein made Guinness Book of World record as it featured only a single actor. It won the award of the fewest actors in a narrative film.
Directed and produced by Sunil Dutt the movie also starred him. The only other actor in the film is Nargis Dutt.
9. Lalita Pawar- Bollywood actress with the longest film career
Lalita Pawar made her debut at the age of 12 and acted continuously for 70 years. She has acted in more than 700 films. The actress holds the Guinness book of the world record for having the longest film career as an actress.
10. Paidi Jairaj- For having the longest film career
Paidi Jairaj also had a long film career. He made his debut in 1929 and acted for seventy years. He has acted in more than 300 films. He made Guinness Book of World record for being the Bollywood actor with the longest film career.
11. Indian film industry- Largest annual movie output
Indian film industry is world’s most prolific movie-making nation, it produces around 800 to 1,000 movies every year. The numbers are almost double of the movies produced by Hollywood every year.
The Indian film industry made Guinness Book of World records in 2009, with a total of 1,288 films were being produced in 24 different languages.
12. Ashok Kumar- Longest Bollywood career in leading roles
Since his debut in Jeevan Naiya in 1936; this veteran actor has constantly acted in lead roles in many popular movies. He was affectionately known as ‘Dadamoni’ and acted continuously for 63 years. He made Guinness Book of the world record for the longest Bollywood career in leading roles.
13. PK- Highest box office gross for a Bollywood film
This super-hit movie by Aamir Khan was the most successful Indian film of all-time, and it made Guinness Book of World Record for the highest box office film gross for a Bollywood film. PK made a worldwide gross of ₹ 6.22 billion as of January 2015.
14. Love and God (Kais Aur Laila)- Longest production of a Bollywood film
This film took an exceptionally long time to complete. It took more than 20 years to complete Love and God due to various reasons. It was mainly delayed by the death of Guru Dutt and then director K. Asif in 1971. Later Sanjeev Kapoor took the lead in 1986, and the film was completed eventually. It made the world record for having the longest production of a Bollywood film.
