Geeta Basra was born to a Punjabi Indian parents in Portsmouth on the south coast of England. She has appeared in Bollywood films and was first seen in the Emraan Hashmi starrer Dil Diya Hai (2006). Her second movie, The Train (2007), was also opposite Hashmi. She played the character of Roma who gets caught up in an extramarital affair.

Basra was also part of the music video for Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Sukshinder Shinda Ghum Sum Ghum Sum, playing the love interest of the male protagonist played by Rahul Bhat. Basra dated Harbhajan for a long time and tied the knot in 2015. The couple has a daughter, Hinaya Heer Plaha, born in Portsmouth. Geeta received critical acclamation for her work in Zila Ghaziabad (2013), directed by Anand Kumar. Her other notable works include Second Hand Husband, Lock and Mr Joe B. Carvalho.
